MY WEEKEND FINDS

Thanks for tuning in to another episode of My Weekend Finds, the continuing saga of one girl's quest for more junk!~~~~~~Is it just me, or has the junking been really awful this summer? Or is it that I've been trying to be more selective and not bring home so much junk? No question about it, the sales have been awful! The junk I'm about to show you was accumulated over a period of about a month and a half, and I don't have much to show for it!
I fell in love with this bird cage stand as soon as I saw it at the flea market. But I'm not going to use it to hold a bird cage.....
It's going to hold a flower basket!
Anything aqua colored seems to catch my eye these days, so I was immediately drawn to this old picnic jug.
And when I saw the label, I had to have it! It's packed away now, but I can't wait to decorate with it next summer.
Even the box is cool!
I've always wanted one of these birdcages with the singing birds in it. I like it, the cat hates it!
A huge, super-grungy flower frog. Definitely needs a good soaking and scrubbing.
A big fat crock for the front porch.
A Norcrest owl planter, bought weeks ago for a quarter. Proud of myself that I actually remembered where I put it for safe keeping until it was time to decorate for Halloween!
Holiday decorations. I knew the poinsettias were all chippy and her arm was broken when I bought that Lefton angel.....
But how could I miss the fact that she was missing her left arm??? Although the masking tape price tag was conveniently covering her nonexistent arm,  I think somebody needs to wear their glasses while shopping inside a dark garage.....
A bunch of vintage trick or treat buckets.
And finally, a Santa blow mold that spent way too much time in the back of the van, or the shed on wheels, as I like to call it. Why did it live in the van for a few weeks? Because I had to sell a snowman blow mold at our garage sale in order to make room in the shed for the Santa. If you're a true junker, that made perfect sense to you. There's no arguing with a junker's logic!~~~~The garage sale and flea market season is drawing to a close, and I am sad yet strangely excited. I want to learn how to quilt, so that I can make one out of a quilt top that I found at a garage sale, and I'd also like to finally learn how to crochet. It's going to be a looonnnggg winter!

Some of those blow molds are BIG - I know how you feel!!

I wish I had a porch..... I have a back deck but that's just not the same....

Cool finds! I like the bird cage as a plant holder far better than a prison for birds :) I agree, it's been tough hunting this year, even here in France. Bonne chance!

The bird cage holder looks like it was meant to hold your flowers! I love seeing your finds. Have a wonderful week! :) --Fran

So glad to know that jug is okay for ALL outdoor activities! How funny. Love the ghost/house candle! Looks like that is in really good shape. I've unknowingly brought home chipped, etc. pieces too. So it goes.

I think the owl planter is my favorite! Love the look of the flowers in the bird cage stand too-very pretty:@)

That is a great thermos!!

I think the hanging basket looks perfect on the stand. Better than a bird cage would!!

Have a Happy Tuesday!!

Great finds. You come home with such unique items!! I, too, want to learn to crochet. I wasn't great at knitting, so I am hesitant to give it a try. Have a great week!

Just love the idea of using the bird cage holder as a plant stand, so pretty! That thermos is just fabu! Yeah, what is it about aqua? It's like a magnet drawing us in, lol. Can't count the times I've bought something broken or more broken that I thought. I think we get so excited to find the treasure, we just can't see it. :) Pam

Love the "plant" stand and thermos!

I've decided I'm going to learn how to crochet this winter only because I want to make rag rugs! ♥

Love all the things you found. You crack me up with your descriptions!! My kitty would go nuts with a singing bird in the house...real or not!!

We have that exact same Santa blowmold found in a barn this summer. I've been tripping over him for months. He still needs to visit our attic. Lots of cool finds. As you can imagine, I'm totally smitten with the ghost candle and the owl planter. Our two cats would be crazy with a singing bird.

Best wishes with your sewing and crocheting. Be sure to take pictures!

Anytime I see a post from you it's a GREAT day! As usual you have the bestest junk around! I don't think I've seen one piece of aqua ANYTHING at our sales on Long Island. Even our thrift stores are out of control with prices. I love the box also with that great graphic. Love your idea for the bird cage stand. And probably the cat thinks there is real bird in that cage you have hanging high and its chirping..TEMPTATION for him! Hugs! Maggie

I completely understand the 'shed on wheels' comment. I do that myself -- keep purchases in there until it's 'safe' to bring them inside. Haha

You make me laugh! The cat has bad taste; the singing bird is cute. The birdcage hanger for flower basket is brilliant!

Love, love, love, the flowers on the bird cage holder. It makes perfect sense to me that something had to go before you could bring in the Santa. The car is sort of like Purgatory isn't it - a nether world holding pattern. Great post.

Oh I love that vintage thermos! Since we down sized I try not to bring home much anymore, but I do enjoy the browsing!

Great post! Lots of goodies I would be thrilled to find. You know when you visited my papercrafting blog the other day, and I had pictures of my Hoosier? Did you notice we have a shared item? The ghost coming out of the house in this post! I did update Made or Found with close-ups of all the ones I have. I love them!

Hard to believe you found that many halloween buckets! Love the little garden vignette

As for the chipped/broken piece....I find those are perfect for shadowboxes where you can hide most flaws with groupings of flowers, ornaments, etc. Try making a Christmas shadowbox and pile on the ornaments or poinsettias to hide her broken bits. I'd like to have a "poor" time of flea marketing like you do.......we just don't have good stuff here.

Hugs,
Meri

I thought of you Saturday when I was outbid for one of those tin litho watering cans. I am never, ever going to own one. But I digress. That is a great idea for a birdcage stand! And that aqua cooler - fabulous.

Hey honey! Thanks for visiting me. Long time no 'talk'!

I love what you did with the bird cage stand - perfect!

You made me laugh with the junker comment - I always have to stop and think about what I already have in the car before I buy anything. LOL!

The box is glorious! Loving all your Holiday goodies, too. :)
