MY WEEKEND FINDS

Thanks for tuning in to another episode of My Weekend Finds, the continuing saga of one girl's quest for more junk!
Aqua Pyrex mini fridgies have been on my wish list for awhile, so when I spotted these across the aisle at the flea market, I raced over there and grabbed them. I like how they look supporting this old Mr. & Mrs. Claus s&p set. What I don't like is that every time I look at those fridgies, I think about the big aqua fridgie that I left behind. The only way I can justify such stupidity is that the seller wanted alot for it, and my kitchen is very tiny and I had no room for it. I think I know what you Pyrex collectors are thinking, and I totally agree. I'm an idiot!!!
The very last thing I need is another bird cage, but when I saw this PINK and black one at a thrift store, I didn't hesitate. I wasn't about to let it turn into something like the "Aqua Pyrex Fridgie That I Left Behind Incident"! And at least now that I've admitted that I collect bird cages, I'm learning more about them. This cage is from the 50s and was made by the Bernard Edward Co., or BECO.
I need to do a bit more rearranging, but for now it's up on the armoire in the bedroom, along with my childhood globe and a Hendryx bird cage.
This barn is another flea market find.
It was made by Marx Toys in the 50s.
And it came with a bunch of plastic animals....
And a toy soldier!
Someday, when I'm feeling ambitious, I'll bring the ladder in the house and put the barn up there where our daughter's old Fisher Price barn is. And then it will be a real farm, and I will have to give it a name. Any ideas?
Christmas Blow Mold Extravaganza!
It felt so good when I had packed up all of the Halloween decorations so neat and tidy in the shed. So when I saw all of this at an estate sale, I actually groaned. But I bought it anyway, and it looks like I'll need to buy another bin!
Vintage Christmas kitchen towels, and an old Hallmark tray, which will go on the porch. I started decorating inside a week ago, because it seems that lately by the time I'm done with the outside, I don't feel like doing the inside. And it's taking every ounce of self-control to not do the outside NOW! But I will behave, and I'll wait until the day after Thanksgiving. So, are you itchin' to decorate for Christmas, or have you been naughty and already started?!

Ooh, great finds...love the fridgies and barn! Over the weekend I attended a Flea Market where a vendor was selling an old metal doll house, similar to the one in your photo. The asking price was $30.00 and it didn't come with any furniture.

LOVE the aqua fridgies!

Don't worry about the big one. We all need to experience a bit of treasure hunting remorse. It helps to sharpen our eye for future finds!

Well I think your farm should be called Old Glory Farm!

Thanksgiving is late this year so even though I'm going to wait to decorate for Christmas, I'm going to have all the Fall packed up and the Christmas organized and ready to pounce! ♥

Don't you think every farm needs a soldier or two? That is great that the barn came with animals. Now it is a true farmhouse!! I love that shed, too. I am going t have to go back and search to see it all again!

It looks like you found some great finds again!

I feel your pain on adding another holiday bin..my Halloween morphed into ONE more this year.
Love the army fellow standing guard at the farm...no one is going to mess with those farm animals.

Well obviously you should call it Old Glory Farm! That way, everybody knows its yours :-)

I will start decorating the inside of my house Thanksgiving weekend then my tree the following weekend. Unfortunately, I can't do a whole lot of decorating outside since I have three dogs who would just love to cart away my blow molds! Speaking of blow molds, I have tons but really need to find a set of candles. You found two sets?! Showoff :-)

Great finds and I love that the soldier is guarding the farm... I hear the pigs can get a bit unruly:@)

My 20+ bins of Halloween continues to multiple each year. I completely understand the need to have more holiday blow molds. I can't stop! Maybe we can start a blow mold support group!! I can just picture your vintage toy barn with a few bottle brush wreaths on it. Love your toy collection. Yippee for vintage finds!

Hey Carol,
Love the bird cage! I have one with a stand that is in the breezeway for now. (Too much stuff!) You seem to find the blow molds!! I have put up a lighted swag on my arbor and handrail, but nothing inside. Maybe this weekend?!

All of your finds are Wonderful! I am so happy you are okay. I was worried about you because of all the tornadoes. I even emailed you to see if you were okay. Have a nice week! Twyla

I'm naughty....I already started decorating the inside last week but I'll hold off until the day after Thanksgiving to do the porch and outside. Love your birdcage! I seem to always have to add another bin or container with each holiday now.
**I'm Doreen by the way if you're wondering about my identity.
You can probably tell by my bunny pic :-)

"Idiot" is a pretty strong word to use for passing on Pyrex. Still ... aqua? I am a decorating purist and don't start til after Thanksgiving. (I'd wait even later to put up the tree, but my son won't hear of it. Christmas is for children, even when they are 22.)

When I die, they will think..how many rubbermaid tubs can one woman have? But you might beat me!
Love the finds and still love that darn little shed next to the doll house that is like mine.
