More White In The Garden-White Wednesday

I got this cement column, with the resin gazing ball holder on top, at a garage sale two weeks ago. I've been trying ever since to get a decent picture of it, and I still haven't been successful! Pay no attention to the rebar. I use it as a hose guide. Instead of a gazing ball, I would love to find a cement orb for the top, but in the meantime, I have a pretty saucer full of water, serving as a butterfly bath!

I found this headboard at a garage sale last summer, and since then all of the flowers have grown amongst it very nicely.

I especially like the ceramic heart. I'm actually surprised that it survived the winter. I thought for sure it would have crumbled to bits!

I found this birdfeeder at the flea market. It's one of the prettiest I've ever seen.

And the best part is that the perches are shaped like a skeleton key. How cute!

My Weekend Finds

Thanks for tuning in to another episode of My Weekly Finds!

It was rather surprising how few garage sales there were, considering that it's July and the height of garage saling season. I had a wad of singles burning a hole in my pocketbook, and not a heck of a lot to blow it on! I was thrilled, however, to find that lovely old Floraline vase, and the Lefton bride and groom.

Finally, a little Christmas in July! All Shiny Brites, and I got it all for 50 cents.

This little example of pink lusciousness was found at the flea market. It took about 20 minutes to clean the nooks and crannies in those numbers, but for $2, it was totally worth it. I can't wait to see it hanging on my mint green kitchen walls!

A couple of old Little Golden Books. I've been yearning for that Our Flag book for ages. The dominoes will be used in my Halloween decorations.

Can someone tell me why we scribbled in our books when we were little? And why, for the love of all that is good in this world, did this kid have to scribble all over the Pledge of Allegiance???

The watering can, pink planter, yellow planter and the birdhouse with the flowers on it are also recent finds.

Which required rearranging everything on these shelves that Mr. Old Glory made for me. I guess I should have showed the before shot! He also made the birdhouse on the top that is a replica of our home. He is awesome!
Until I do some rearranging inside the house, all future pottery is going to have to go on the front and back porches. Which will then have to come in for the winter. Or maybe I should just stop buying pottery. But I see no need to panic just yet......
So what did YOU find this weekend?

It's A PINK SATURDAY In My Kitchen!

I've shared these pinks in my kitchen before, but never for PINK SATURDAY. My vintage Sunbeam mixer isn't looking very pink in this picture, but it really is pink! Does anyone else hate taking pictures indoors?

My very small collection of melamine. I remember a time when I thought melamine was cheap and unattractive. What a foolish little girl I was!

A vintage Pyrex casserole dish, along with a couple of old drinking glasses in the background.

A vintage ice crusher, colander and McCoy bowl. Pay no attention to all of the dust up there!

An old California Pottery snack set, on a lazy susan. Although I don't have alot of pink things in my kitchen, I am always on the lookout for more! If you would like to see all sorts of pink things, please head over to How Sweet The Sound, where Beverly hosts this party every week!

My Secret Garden-White Wednesday

Let's take a stroll through the gardens! I got this "Secret Garden" plaque several years ago at the Covered Bridge Festival in Indiana.

I think this girl is supposed to be a fountain, because there is a hole in the center of her urn. She weighs an absolute ton!

I found this wicker chair curbside. The birdhouse and little cart were garage sale finds.

This birdhouse started out life as a donation box, shaped like a church. I took off the steeple, covered the slot on top with a big hinge, and added the old door plate in front.

Daisies....

Phlox.....

And the beautiful watch that I won from Debbie at My Shabby Roses! It's so pretty, and thankfully my daughter's wrists are too skinny for it to fit, otherwise I would have to hide it every night! Thanks Debbie!
If you would like to see lots more whites, please go to Faded Charm, where Kathleen is the hostess with the mostest!

Vintage 4th of July Party!

Centsation Girl is having a Stars & Stripes Party! And......

Joan at Anything Goes Here is having a Vintage 4th of July Party!

And with a wave of the wand, let my portion of the party begin! WARNING!!! There is a metric ton of pictures ahead!

This bookcase is where I do most of my decorating in the house.

A July angel that I have trapped in an apothecary jar.

And another one!

Old salt & pepper shakers. I know the gal is Betsy Ross, but I've seen the guy called Paul Revere, James Madison, and Ben Franklin. We'll just call him the Bill of Rights dude!

Vintage sheet music.

I was so excited to find the postcard with the little girl on it! I've seen that image all over the internet, so I'm happy to have the real thing. It's postmarked 1909.

An old lunchbox.

An eagle quilt.

I collect Statue of Liberty souvenirs. Sure would like to see the real thing some day!

An old red, white and blue apron hanging by the back door, just in case I get an urge to bake something the minute I walk in the door!

An old teacher's tool to explain the evolution of our flag. It's a grand old flag, isn't it?!

An old watering can, filled with pinwheels and a flag. I remember getting a new pinwheel every year when I was a little girl!

Just one vintage towel in my overflowing collection.

If it's red, white and blue, or says it's AMERICAN MADE, I'll use it in my decorations.

Flags in an old crock. One of them is a 48-star flag. Another thing I collect.

An vintage red, white and blue tablecloth on the dining room table. With a flower frog holding an old 48-star flag along with newer ones.

The rest of these pictures aren't of vintage things, just more decorations inside and outside of our home. This is a quilt that I made a few years ago.

My favorite part is the blocks with the pledge of allegiance on them.

A throw that my sister Mary made for me for Christmas.

Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty that I made about 12 years ago. Actually I'm cheating, because these won't get out of the garage and onto the porch until Friday, so this is a picture from a couple years ago.

If you're still here, thank you for looking at all my stuff! For a blog that's called Old Glory Cottage, you would think I would have more vintage 4th things. Trust me, I'm workin' on it! Now please head over to Joan's to see lots more red, white and blue!

I am also linking up with REDnesday, over at IT'S A VERY CHERRY WORLD!
AND
Centsational Girl's STARS AND STRIPES PARTY!
