Kitchen Reds For REDnesday!

We're back in the kitchen for REDnesday! I always think that I have no more reds to share, but then I look around, and there's still more!

First is a little napkin holder that I found in a thrift store in Wisconsin. Also a place mat, and a little polka dot jar that was in my stocking this past Christmas. Can't believe there's still conversation hearts in there. I think the fact that they are like little pebbles might have something to do with it! Don't buy conversation hearts from the dollar store!

A goofy chicken potholder. I actually have a couple of these, and I got them at an antique store. They're very old, but very well made. Haven't burned my hands yet!

And finally, the old classic. Doesn't everyone have this cookbook? Isn't it mandatory?

I do love the pictures in this book. I want that little girl figurine standing guard over the mashed potatoes, or whatever that big mound is!

This ham picture actually makes my mouth water! Great presentation, isn't it?

Love everything about this picture, from the corn cob holders to the table to those plates. I want those plates!

Eggs A La Goldenrod. On a beautiful plate. I thought that was actual goldenrod topping those eggs, and almost had an allergic reaction just looking at it! But it's only sieved egg yolks. Close call!
Are you enjoying the Olympics as much as I am? Tonight is the men's short program for figure skating. Go Evan Lysacek! Illinois Boy!!
Now if you would like to see more reds, head over to It's A Very Cherry World, where Sue is our hostess each and every week!

Hi Carol,

I am so happy you read my comment and found my blog, Chicory Nits.
Most people have never heard of the Carmel Cottages, so it is nice to have someone to share with. Love the cook book and the pretty pictures in them. I will be joining Rednesday for the first time.
Have a great night.
Hugs, Carey

You crack me up! I need one of those figurines too! Someone in our house always sneaks into the mashed potatoes after I've sculpted them like in that picture.

Thanks for the fun post today!

That goofy chicken potholder is the bomb! If he wouldnt make a cranky cook smile I dont know what would. I would know, having to cook dinner at the end of a long work day makes me cranky- and he made me smile!

My sister and I love to look at cookbooks from the 1950's just to see the dinnerware! I have that same Betty Crocker cookbook and it is one of my favorites!

Between that napkin holder and that Humpty Dumpty Valentine I can hardly take the fun over here my Old Glory friend. You will be especially busy in the Magical Attic tomorrow...You are the best hunter in the attic I've ever seen...

very happy, festive pics.
The mound scares me a little, "I'll take the white stuff over there." But, if it's potatoes they found a cool mold to make it festive looking.

Hi Carol,
I'm afraid I'm in love with your rose trellis napkin holder...ya don't see those just anywhere. Cool vintage Betty Crocker cookbook, too. Love the pretty red and white graphics. But, I absolutely ADORE your little Dutch couple cloth under the BC cookbook! I've started collecting Dutch-themed stuff. Oh, and the chicken potholder is soooo cute.
Happy REDnesday! You've got some real winners there.
