Weekend Finds-Lotsa Pottery!

Things are finally starting to look up in the thrifting/antiquing world! I found two pieces of pink pottery to add to my pink and white collection on top of my secretary hutch. A lovely cornucopia vase, on the left. And the pink flower-shaped one in the gold holder. It's my new love. Miramar Pottery. They began operations in 1952, and ceased to exist in the late 70s. Every bit as gorgeous as McCoy Pottery.

I also found a scotty planter. He looks a little surprised to be pinned back there by that kitty!

I found this creamy matte white cornucopia vase at a thrift store. It was marked $8, which I thought was outrageous, and thankfully one of the workers thought so too. She repriced it at $2 if I promised not to brag about it in the store. I'm assuming it's ok to brag about it here though!

Here's an old pink chenille bedspread that I found at that same thrift store, for $2. I'm either going to make a cushion for this bench with it, even though the squirrels ripped apart the last one I made. Or I can play it completely safe and put it on my daughter's bed while she is away at college. Hmmmm. That's a puzzler.

And finally, I found a Flatsy doll at a church rummage sale! I remember having one of these dolls when I was a little girl. Did you? She was naked when I chose her, but the lady who sold her to me let me take the clothes off of another one, which had only one shoe. The lady is a dealer in dolls, and will be at my local flea market this summer. She had all kinds of dolls from my childhood. I smell trouble.....
So what kind of treasures did YOU find this weekend?

I'm mad for cornucopia vases, too! I have several pieces of Miramar pottery in my California pottery collection and am always on the lookout for it way down here in the South. I spotted the pretty pink planter next to that Flatsy doll (I've never heard of those dolls but I think they were popular after I stopped playing with dolls) with the beautiful white rim--I have several in green and white. What did I collect this weekend? Lots of goodies!!!

I love pottery and ceramics! the kitty, pup photo is too cute. That kitty has him right where she wants him!

I'm afraid to say what I did this weekend at an estate sale. I spent all last week talking about too much stuff. To quote Brittny, Oops I did it again!

I am drooling, absolutely drooling. I love everything that you have shown today. Even before you said it was a Flatsy doll, I knew what it was from my own childhood. I Loved my dolls. By the way I have the same cornucopia vase in light blue.

Great finds. I really like the cornucopia vase and the little Flatsy doll is cute. We obviously missed out on those over here as I have never seen one before.

Love the vases, I really should look for more, but I do have the scotty!

Flatsy dolls, I think I might have had one, I'd forgotten all about them, cute!

The pottery looks lovely together! It picked up here to this weekend. We might be in the buying season finally. It seems so slow in coming this year. i bought ribbons, spools of thread, a giant green bottle, a card table covered with Christmas cards. Lots of stuff I loved.

Such pretty hues of pink. Even Flatsy's hair! I don't know if you've seen the reissues of Flatsy. They have them at the Old Country Store at Crackerbarrel and I got one to give as a gift at Xmas to a friend's little girl.

Your Flatsy is so sweet! I've never seen nor heard of them before but you did remind me Little Kiddles. Do you remember those? They were tiny little dolls that came inside a perfume bottle or jewelry locket. I would be thrilled to find one of those.

Hi Carol,
You did find some really cute things. And I do see the scottie planter-I just love mine. Don't remember Flatsy dolls, but the comment above mentioned Little Kiddles-those I used to love. Good job on your finds!

Love your finds, you were more lucky than I. I try to go to Rotterdam flea market each week. Last week there was a small box with some personal papers. I took a few 'saving booklets' out. They were handwritten and stamped booklets from a 1930ies saving account. The seller wanted 25 euros (33,50 USD) for a few and 50 (67 usd) for the box. I left them there! :-(

Oh Carol, we must be about the same age. I remember "Flatsy:" dolls too although I could not have told you that was their name. They had such fun hair to braid.

I love all your new pottery, especially the white cornucopia. It's just gorgeous!!!

I wanted to stop by and thank you for leaving a lovely comment on my blog. I enjoy seeing all your wonderful vintage finds. I'm lucky to live only minutes down the road from Brimfield, Mass. Three times a year, they host an ever growing antique/flea market. Because of this, we have numerous, year round, indoor flea markets and antique stores. My son and I love finding treasures.
