My Weekend Finds

Thank you Blogger, for finally letting me post this.....10 HOURS LATER!!!!
It's time for another installment of My Weekend Finds! This week's trip to the flea market was especially fun because Mr. Old Glory came with me. He wasn't looking for anything there, he only wanted to spend time with me! That's what he told me, and I believe him. Or could he have just been making sure I didn't bring home lots of junk? Hmmmm......
Almost everything that I brought home was blue! I have five other clocks just like this one. But not in this pretty light blue color. What kind of idiot would I be if I didn't add it to the collection?! Because we all know that if you have a collection, you've got to have it in every color, right? And I've seen that little man and woman planter on several blogs and admired them, so now I won't be jealous anymore when I see one!

Is that kitty tin not adorable? It's from England, and I bet there used to be some fabulous biscuits in there ! And the little figurine is a Josef's Originals, and she was only 50 cents. I didn't need her, but like I said, she was 50 cents!

This picnic basket and old USA pottery vase were both from garage sales, and they were verrrry cheap!

This old tin is also from the flea market, and I think it's my favorite find of the week. I just love that big bumblebee!

Mr. Old Glory found this nest in our yard, and the robin's egg in my Mom's yard. I want to bring the nest inside, but it seems to be very buggy. Does anyone know what I can do to make it safe to bring inside?

And my last find is this movie, Anne of Green Gables. I've never seen it, but I've noticed that alot of bloggers have it on their favorites lists. Right now I'm watching Gone With The Wind. I just finished the book and knew I had to see the movie. That Scarlett is a real piece of work! So..... did you find anything interesting at the flea market or garage sales?

  1. Some wonderful finds. You might try putting the nest in a ziplock and put it in the freezer to kill off any bugs.

  4. I'm so jealous of your little Josef woman! And only 50 cents?! Who cares if you didn't "need" her. She's definitely a "want"!

Anne of Green Gables was a great series to watch. I never read the books, but am guessing they're just as good.

  8. Perhaps this is what I love most of summer...to see everybodies weekend finds on the blog! I have something for tins too. I love the ones you bought and you are totally right about having another clock. That is what collecting is all about, isn't it?
Anne of Green Gables is totally unknown here, but my mother got an Anne of Green Gables doll from my aunt in Canada and the book of...Anne of Green Gables. Mmm must read the book once.

  13. Popping in to say hello and here I find such fabulous vintage finds! I smile each time you add one of these clocks to your collection. I think this one is my favorite! I love that you had a blue theme! I do this when I shop as well. Oh my gosh, I remember the summer all of my friends read Gone With the Wind. It consumed our lives! Such fun memories! 15. P.S. on the nest, put it in the sun, turn it after a few days, then the bugs should be gone. They should go since there aren't any birdies to chew on...

Some people spray some bug poison in a paper bag, seal the nest inside, and do it that way, but then you would have poison residue...but prolly not harmful...others seal the nest in a plastic baggie and place in the sun, but it must be TOTALLY dry for that.

  16. I love that yellow vase with the red tulip on the front! Great finds. :)

And I agree with previous commenters that the Anne movie that most bloggers love is the newer one, with Megan Follows. It was a series in the late 1980s that they showed on PBS here in the U.S. The old version you found looks interesting too, though! And the books themselves are really great summer reading material. :)
