| She gave me my passion for gardening. She was with me when I bought my first antique, and she was junking right alongside me at my first flea market. She taught me how to sew and how to drive. She could make potato pancakes and dumplings like no one else. She was a quiet woman who could surprise you with her wit. I lost my Mom on February 12th, two days after her 90th birthday. My sister and I were at her side, each holding one of her hands, Thank You God. Rest in peace sweet Mama. |
So, so sorry Carol. I know it's hard but I'm glad you were with her. I love the picture of her you've posted.

ReplyDeleteHello Carol, I've been enjoying the photo you posted of your darling Christmas girls in the box since last year. It inspired me to begin collecting similar figurines. I just bought 4 online last night and today. I then began searching for your photo again and came across this blog about your mother. I am so very sorry for your loss, I know it's been several months, but I too know how hard it is to lose your parents. Your photo of you mother is precious and it looks and sounds like she had such a wonderful spirit. It also sounds like you've learned so much from her. What a gift to have her for so long, 90 years is fantastic! I too lost my father this summer after his 90th bday. I can imagine that this holiday season will be fraught with memories of her, please take solace in them and enjoy your treasured vintage items, which I can only imagine bring you closer to your mother each time you look at them.
