"Dirty Dishes" Fountain
I finally made one of these fountains last year, after seeing one several years ago on the Trash to Treasure segment of Decorating Cents on HGTV. I loved the idea right away, because it reminded me of how my Grandma would wash the dishes--in an old enamel bowl in the sink. When she was done, she would carry the bowl outside and empty it in the yard. You probably need to click to enlarge in order to see the spray of water. This idea is so simple, and you could make a fountain out of just about anything. The pump was the biggest expense, and that was only $14.99. You could fill a bowl with seashells, rocks, anything! It's just a soft splashing sound that is so restful while I'm on the porch swing reading a book. I love it!
This fountain is on the back porch, and the birds and squirrels drink out of it. The robins will actually take a bath in it, and I usually have to refill it, because really they are taking more of a shower than a bath! They get in there and start splashing the water around like crazy. It's pretty funny to watch!
This last fountain is from here, and that's where I got the pump for the dishes fountain. I just bought the cheapest fountain they had, and used the pump from it, because I didn't know where else I could get a cheap one. Well, Friday is garge saling day, and I hope I find some treasures. As usual, I'll be sharing all of my weekend finds on Sunday night. Have a great weekend!

O, I just love the enamel dish pan! What a neat idea. Also love the watering can idea! I'd love to have some water scape items in our garden. (I like watching the birds shower also, fun stuff) Unfortunately, we live in 'squito country & even in a drop of water, they breed. Sigh...I'll live vicariously thru your water scapes. :)
I love your little fountain! Happy Garage sale-ing!
I have seen this idea too somewhere and thought it was adorable. Your turned out great! Now I want one!
The dish fountain is adorable. I've never seen it done before.

I love your fountains, Carol. I used to wash my dishes in a dish pan and I am only 51! LOL!! Love the idea though of a fountain, how cute. Thank you for stopping by and leaving a sweet comment on my blog. If you were my friend and you came to visit me I would let you sit in that or any other chair that you wanted to. So please pop over some time. I live in Manitoba, Canada! Not sure where you live, but surely that can't be too far away! LOL!! Hugs ~CINDY S~
Hi Carol, I am another Carol. I found you through Monkeybox and now have you blogrolled so I can peak in and enjoy your finds along with you.
LUUURRRVE the dirty dish fountain. You mentioned doing one with seashells, which I have an abundance of. It will be put on my list of "roundtoits".
Love the fountain SO much! Must make one NOW!!!!!!
OK, this is way too cute. Way, way, way, way, way too cute.
Ohhhhhh-That is adorable!!!! I have some of those porcelain dish pans in the shed! I might have to be a copy cat! Love it!!!! ~Luv~Betty G~
I just love that enamel dish fountain....so CUTE! I love all of your fountains. We have a bird bath that I scrub a couple of times a week and fill daily and I LOVE watching all the birds drink and bathe in it. I hope to get a fountain in the near future (or maybe make one!!!).
Love these fountains! They're so expensive at garden centers-I've thought about trying to make one--this gives me ideas to mull over!
At first my Onkyo DX703 (bought ~1994) single disc home CD player would cut out for a second a couple times when I first turned it on and played a CD, then it would be fine until I had it off for a day. The 2010 Subaru Impreza has seen quite a few changes in the past couple of years, although, there doesn't seem to be any major changes to this year's line-up. TASCAM's CD-200i is a unique combination of rackmountable CD player with a dock for Apple's iPod music player.
