It's Rednesday!

This is my first time participating in the Rednesday party! If you would like to see red, pop on over to My Secret Garden, where Sue is the hostess with the mostest! I've been sitting here, trying to remember what exactly got me collecting anything red. You see, I wasn't exactly crazy about the color red until a couple of years ago.

I think this clock might have been the catalyst (obsession starter), because I thought it would look nice against our minty green walls in the kitchen. But the clock isn't what I wanted to share with you today....

This quilt is. My wonderful sister made it for me last Christmas. She is a fabulous quilter, always trying something new. I love it! It's so cottagey perfect! Would the sofa also be considered red? It is verrry old. It was in my grandparents' home for as long as I can remember, and just recently my Mom told me that she remembers it from when she was little, and she is 84! It is pretty uncomfortable, yet really well-made . It would have to be, to survive 80+ years and alot of boy cousins! My Mom says it's stuffed with horse hair!

Well, that's it for my Rednesday! Most of my red is in the kitchen, so I don't know how much I will be able to share. I have very little of it in the rest of the house. Wait a minute. That's a perfect excuse to go shopping! I will look for more red on my Thursday antiqueing jaunts! Wish me luck!

I like red...but have very little of in in my home, so I guess I'll skip this Rednesday carnival...but thanks for the heads up on another blog to add to my Google reader ~grins~

I would say the couch is cranberry colored...just lovely and remarkable that it is that old and still in service...very well made!

Your quilt is stunning...have you ever seen the redwork embroidery...keep an eye out for that when you are shopping.☺

Thanks for your visit to my post. :-) I love that quilt and what a great sofa. So cool that you still have that in the family. I notice that you have several RED things in your sidebar. Perhaps you have more than you realized. LOL! Have fun shopping for more RED!!

OOOOOOOOOO catalyst!!!! GOOD science word - - you get the star for the day.

Now, can you send me an e-mail and use the word catalyst in the definition of enzyme???? If so, I will give you TWO stickers. TWO.

You are NEVA too old for stickers - - - even my high schoolers LOVE them and try to earn them.

Hi!
Love all your red! Love that couch, it's a keeper alright! They don't make furniture like that anymore! Have a great day!

Hi Carol! Stunning quilt! And, yes, the sofa is red (in the red family, anyway!).

Good luck with your red hunting!

awwww, you lucky girl who has a lovely sister that would gift you a handmade quilt.

You have a good eye for textiles..my kitchen curtain was picked up in a really neat antique shop in Nacogdoches, Texas on Spring break last year. I paid $50and I know it cost someone $100-$200 to have custom made.

so glad to meet you this week. :0)

Very cute quilt. I so admire anyone who can actually finish such a big project. I've tried quilting because I love playing with pattern and color but I just don't have the patience for it!

Rednesday is a great excuse for a shopping trip. Gotta stimulate that economy!

Hi Carol,
Thanks for stopping by today. To answer your question about the glue I used; I used Aleene's Tacky Glue, watered down so I could brush it on. But you could use spray adhesive also. One or the other would do the trick. I'd love to see what you do with your birdhouse. You'll have to post about it. Enjoy your evening.

Blessings,
Sandi

What a pretty quilt, and the couch is lovely, too!

Your sister made something very pretty and special for you, Carol. Just curious- do you use your "uncomfortable" sofa, or is just an heirloom for looks? Happy red hunting on your next shopping jaunt!

Thanks for stopping by. I removed the chickens because my daughter gave me such a hard time about them, guess I just wasn't thinking about how wierd they were going to look. Love all of your red things and your vintage thingys. Jackie

It's funny, red has only recently become a passion for me, too. And now I can't get enough of it. :) LOVE that clock!
