MY WEEKEND FINDS

This past weekend was our citywide garage sale. My buddy Nancy and I went to about 50 of them, and she filled my van up twice! I purchased only a few things, one of them being that chalkboard, above. I've been wanting one to have on the porch, to write clever things on!

I only had to walk across the street to get this old watering can. And I couldn't pass up that book. Friday To Monday Gardening. Oh, if only it were that easy! I think the author, Ms. Margaret O. Goldsmith, must have puttered around in the garden Friday-Monday, and had a hired gardener the rest of the week!

I couldn't believe someone hadn't snatched up this pink Pyrex bowl before I did!

I found a mate for the old frog planter on the left.

A Gigantor Gurley Santa candle. He's huge! I've never seen one so big!

Two boxes of Shiny Brites.

AT 10 CENTS A BOX!!! You read that right. A BOX!!!

This wee little picnic basket was an Ebay win a couple of weeks ago. Actually, it was made in Japan, and it held the batteries to a toy, way back when. I'd love to know what kind of toy it went with!

The picnic basket/lunch box collection is steadily growing! So, did you find any treasures over the weekend?

Your blog is a delight for the eyes! It is beautiful. I'm drooling over your garage sale finds. Do you mind me asking what you paid for that pink bowl? I have three (orange, rust and gold) in my antiques booth but they refuse to be sold. Maybe I'm asking too much. Amazing in pink! I've now added Shiny Brite Christmas balls to my list off items to collect. Your are wonderful! I think I inherited some from my mother. I'll have to check. I would love to have a 1950ish Christmas tree one year.
Have a super week.

Super jealous as always. I can tell it took a lot of work. These are some fabulous hauls. Well worth it. Never have seen the pink Pyrex before. I don't think those shiny brites retailed for ten cents. Way to go! Enjoy...Renee

Oh good for you Carol! You found some real winners. 10 cents a box shiny brites! Every bloggy girls dream!

My boys had an easel chalk board like that when they were little. brings back memories. I always had fun making their room look cute.

I'm so looking forward to our city wide garage sale! I should be savign my pennies! Do you know, I've never seen Pink Pyrex in person? Only on the blogs! All my mom's pyrex was blue or green!

Have a great wek Carol! ♥

Great score on that pyrex bowl.

We hit alot of yard sales, but to my great surprise, they were horrible. Just people's junk sitting randomly on the driveways. Some ya win, some ya lose! You on the other hand, definitely won!

Carol I love your finds! The Pink Pyrex makes my heart skip a beat. I never see it at good prices and never thrifting or yard sales. Maybe one day. Shiny Brite boxes full for 10 cents...oh my goodness. I think that must have been the score of the day. Love the watering can also. Gotta go, time to water my flowers! hugs, Linda

Hi Carol,
I have several watering cans, they are hard to pass up, well I don't pass them up. I have that set of pyrex bowls, but not in pink. Not to happy about you finding yet another picnic tin. I need to come to your house and distract you while putting a few of those in my car. HA. You did find some good things this week.

Great finds, Carol!! And 50 cents for those ornaments. WOW!!! Usually I can't even touch those because they go so high.
i love old watering cans. There were several at the flea market, but I passed. They go high now.

My garage sale is in a couple of weeks. Come on over!!!

I saw a chalk board just about like that when I went shopping with Eloise this weekend. It wasn't for sale, or I think I would have bought it for the grans to write on in the basement! Uh - - - excuse me - - - that would be in the football cave!

Good lord, you went to 50 garage sales? Amazing! You really did find some great stuff and I don't even want to know how little you paid for that Pyrex Gooseberry bowl. I remember having a big Gurley Santa like the one you found--as soon as I saw it I went "aaaaaaah." Memories.

I did, I did! I will have to post them tomorrow...I found two vintage Coke T.V. trays. I intend to sit my bottom down and eat cereal and watch cartoons Saturday morning! Yep, just like the old days...let me see...turn back time about 42 years and I'll be there!

Great fun finds. Especially finding a mate for other frog and the elf...way too cute for words! Glad you struck gold! You've inspired me to break into my piggy bank for some garage sale cash!

So many great finds!

I avoid this kind of sale because they're so hectic and too much pressure around my neck of the woods!
