IN THE GARDEN
Let's take a peek at what's happening in the garden this week!
Something BAD happened in the garden yesterday. I had Petunia Pearl and Viola Rose out there with me while I gardened. They love being out there, and they chirp up a storm! I don't know how it happened, but somehow they got out of the cage. Thankfully Viola's wings had been clipped, so she can't fly and I was able to get her back in the cage. Last time I saw Petunia, she flew up into a tree. Viola sat outside in her cage for hours, awaiting Petunia's return, but she never came home. I miss her!
So here's what's blooming this week. Garden Loosestrife.
A lovely pink lacecap hydrangea.
Sizzlin' hot orange lilies!
And white lilies.
Several years ago I made a bunch of these cast cement leaf birdbaths. They aren't perfect like the ones you can buy, but the birds and squirrels and cats don't mind at all taking a sip of water from them!
I used big rhubarb leaves to make them.
A variety of sedum has even taken root inside one!
So that's what's blooming in the garden this week. I guess Viola and I will sit on the porch again tomorrow and wait some more......

Beautiful garden. I hope your little birdie comes home. How sad. If not will you get a friend for your other birdie. Happy 4th.
Your garden is looking so pretty! Love the flowers! So sorry the Petunia got out but hopefully she will come home today! hugs, Linda
I love those big leaf bowls you made! I think I remember you posting about them back then. Your flower garden is just gorgeous and full of blooms! I am so sorry about your sweet Petunia Pearl. I really hope she comes back today. Does your community have missing pet notices? A couple of years ago my sister found a parrot in her tree... obviously someones pet... but, had no way to tell WHERE it came from and no one responded to the "found bird" notices. So they got a cage and kept him.
Loved your beautiful flowers and what cool bird baths. My senior mom would love some for her gardening projects but will probably wait til next year.
And I'm so sorry to hear about your sweet bird. Praying for encouragement for you and her little bird pal.
Sorry to read about one of your birds "flying the coup"...do you think she'll come home??? I hope so!
pretty garden flowers and AWESOME clay leafs you made!
Like the last post with your Red, White and Blue treasures!
Happy 4th!
Warmly,
deb :)
Oh Carol, I am so sorry to hear that Petunia flew away. Maybe she will get homesick and come back.
I absolutely love the leaves! What a great idea. You should show us how to do them.
So what is your sectret for the hydrangeas? I have the hardest time getting mine going. I thought I did better this year, but I think the heat is just too much for it. I feel like I have made sure he had plenty of water. Kansas is starting to look dried up and fried.
We love your giant leaf that you made! ....years ago we thought about making one but never got around to that project...never enough time..It looks lovely in your garden :) Have a great Fourth of July!
Oh and we are sorry to hear about Petunia, we hope she finds her way home:(

Beautiful flowers in your garden, and the pretty birds just put a wonderful touch to it!
What a loss! I'm so sorry to read that Petunia got out. I hope she returns. Please keep us posted. We're home and digging out from beach sand and dirty laundry. Have a lovely 4th of July weekend enjoying your beautiful garden!
I love the name of your birds! Espcially Viola, I had an Aunt Viola and she was a real sweetie. It makes me smile when I see that we have similarities. I just noticed how pretty my loosestrife was today. I have also made some of those leaves from concrete. I gave them to my girls. Thought I might make some more. Really enjoyed making them, how about you?
