MY WEEKEND FINDS
Well my friend Nancy and I went to that big 40+ houses subdivision sale. She was looking for baby stuff for a friend, and I was looking for vintage junk, as usual. This is important to remember towards the end of this post.
It was kind of a bust! These are some of the things that I came home with.
An old Playskool Old Woman Who Lived In A Shoe toy. I guess kids were supposed to learn how to tie their shoes with this. I think I'll just use it in my craft area to hold my knitting needles!
An old tissue box holder. Please tell me that they still make kleenex boxes that will fit in there!
A little Valentine girl.
A cute book.
A vintage trellis.
An old etched mirror for 25 cents! I think it looks kind of interesting there, AND I can see what's going on behind me while I'm washing the dishes!
A big box of flashcards. Bouncing. Bug. Flower. Garden. I think I just found a name for that one part of the garden that's especially buggy!
I'm crazy about this vintage Fisher Price crib toy. Actually my friend found it first. I saw her pick it up, and I said, "No Nancy!", or "Nancy No!", or some variation like that. Remember she was looking for baby stuff? Well, I had to remind her that I collect bluebirds. So she gave it to me, and ever since, I've felt like I stole a toy right out of a baby's hands! Simply put, I AM........
And so, to feel better about myself, I made a little gardening vignette, using only garage sale finds. What? You thought I gave the bluebird back? Don't be silly!

You totally crack me up. I'm glad you were able to convince your friend that you "needed" the blue bird. Your gardening vignette is adorable. It was fun to see how you've displayed your mirror with your kitchen sink too. I don't think your sales were a totally bust. Pretty neat stuff.
Happy Monday!
I love what you found and that vignette is just gorgeous. What a great idea to use the flash cards like that. I adore fisher price toys too..and I'm always on the hunt to add more to my collection.
Oh Carol, you wonderful greedy girl- you! :) Please show us where you hang the new bluebird! ♥
Hmm...and you wonder why I estate sale alone? Lovely finds. I would have fought you over it too. Alright you would have won...but still it would have been worth it. Smiles...Renee
I love you treasures, specially your cute bluebird toy!
Have a lovely week!

Well, shoot, I wouldn't call that a bust at all! Vintage stuff is slim pickins around here so I'm happy with anything I can find, especially at yard sales! I love the little bluebird and the flash cards are great!
Great finds, Carol!
Your future grandchildren are going to love to come and visit you with all those great toys!
Looks like you did very well!!
Great finds! You scored some really sweet stuff. I Bet that bluebird has a really sweet song :)
You are so funny...I love that cute vignette and I hope you enjoy that blue bird. :)))
I am in dire need of a trip to the thrift stores...going tomorrow with friends.:)
That little trellis is pretty cute -- what is it about chippy, crusty old wood that's so appealing? I'm also a little curious about what's going on behind you while at the sink...
:-)
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
I love the old trellis! And the flashcards! I LOVE the green-garden-garage-sale vignette you put together in that last picture!!
I don't call that haul a bust! Nice goodies and I love your idea for using the boot to hold knitting needles! But do you think your friend Nancy will ever ask you to tag along again? ;)
rosie
ps I love the color of your kitchen backsplash. What did you use?
Even though I know you are trying to torture me with putting that green watering can in Every Single Photo You Can Think Of, I'm here to tell you that even if a Kleenex box doesn't fit in that holder, you can just neatly take the kleenex out of the original box in a stack and pop them in the new one.
Ha...you are a bucket of laughs. Not for one moment did I think you would give the bluebird to Nancy! Hey, not sure, maybe the valentine girl is a Joseph ceramic but not sure and I have Open the Gate too...
I'm sure that does not shock you.
Thanks for coming to see me and saying your rah rah's for Gnomeland. It's really a weird time in my life this last year but I'm making the very best of it knowing it's all gonna turn out alright. Off to the thrift store for some therapy. Cheaper than someone with a fancy PHD. behind their name...
Cheers to Weekend Finds...way too fun!
LOL...
I can see that we can't shop together!!!
The vintage word cards are awesome and the little bluebird is sweet!
Nice vignette.
Keep cool!
Deb :)
I agree we would both want so many of the same things! I love that little bluebird and those flash cards are extra fun!
Very sweet. You definitely have the knack for finding charming vintage items.
Hey Carol! Very awesome stuff. I realized after you left a comment that I hadnt seen your blog in a while and I checked my google reader and I had the folder my subscription to your page in colapsed! No wonder I haven't seen any of your good stuff recently! :)
I LOVE that book with the kids and the dog on it- wow I sure want to take a photo of that and use it on my blog! Haha... I bet the book probably has other great vintage images in it, too, hope you get a chance to use it here. :)
and dont worry about the baby- I assure you the kid would rather have an empty box to play with than a vintage blue bird. At least thats how my 14 month old is. :)
My children had the FP bird many year ago, I mean they are grown with children of there own, and I thought it was cute then....nice to see in it you post. What fun finds.
What wonderful finds, and I especially love those flashcards! I adore your blog, and thank you so very much for visiting mine! xo Helena
Okay I need to go with you. Wish I lived closer. That mirror is awesome and you can check your teeth for spinach after dinner too. Love the green gardening can. Love it all!
Love all your weekend finds ! I think they are better than a bust.Sweet Vignette.
