IN THE GARDEN-Thrifty Finds For The Garden!
Let's take a peek at what's happening in the garden this week!
But first, let's play a game. It's called Find The Goldfinch. Did you find it? I love listening to them "peep peep peep" as they eat the coneflower seeds.
Let's play another game. This one is called Find The Katydid. She was so shy that every time I got near her, she'd turn away. So I had to take this shot from a few feet away.
I found a few goodies for the garden at the flea market and garage sales last week. I just love this snail gazing ball.
And this blue gazing ball.
This birdcage and stand were green when I bought them, but a couple of coats of Heirloom White spray paint took care of that. In the fall I'll put some crows and little pumpkins in there.
This big teapot was a rusty black color, but it was spray paint to the rescue again. Now all it needs is a little pot of flowers inside.
The Balloon Flowers are finally blooming.
And so are the Black Eyed Susans, which are one of my favorite flowers. I have great memories of walking along the dirt road my grandparents' lived on, and picking a bouquet for the kitchen table. I had to use a knife to cut them, because Grandma wouldn't let me use her sewing scissors! Ok, one more game before me move on: Find The Bunny!
I have two patches of poison ivy that need digging up and disposing of. And I will do that next week. I will, I will, I will. I'm afraid to go anywhere near it, but I'm tired of working around it and being petrified. I've had many cases of poison ivy, but last year was especially dreadful, and I want to avoid another bout at all costs. Now that I've clicked the PUBLISH button, I really have to do it, because I don't want to have to confess here next week that I chickened out. Wish me luck.........

I love that you captured the katydid. Nature is beautiful and you have made some beautiful additions this week. My boys are having a ball with the cicadas now. Even the cat likes to chase them...enjoy...Renee
Love the teapot, Carol! Good ole spray paint!
Now don't you come back here until that posion Ivy is gone- ya hear?! ;)
I love all the hidden things in the garden! Just get rid of that poison ivy so you don't have to worry about any more!
I'm totally enamored with your katydid picture. The weather is finally starting to cool down and it's actually fun to be outside again. Beautiful pictures.
Everything is looking great!!!

I have so neglected my deck garden this year! I hope I can do some planting and enjoy it this fall. You found some lovely items for the gardens. The snail gazing ball is very cute!
Oh dear be careful. My husband is horribly allergic and I mean horribly. He even had it on our honeymoon but when he got in the water in Hawaii it really healed up thank God.
I LOVE that bird cage and stand and also the teapot!! Soooo cute!!!
Hi Carol Thx for stopping by. Yes she is a head vase. There are many of them all representing different eras. She I believe represents the 40's or 50's. I picked up a couple of them before they started climbing in price. I think they still make them. I haven't checked on them for a few years. By the by they are called cameo girls.

Hi Carol,
Great finds for the garden! I'm really loving the birdcage and stand and I love your idea of decorating it for fall.
I read some of your other posts too and I love that green clock/radio you found.
Have a great week.

Spray paint is wonderful. White is such a great color, too. Your garden is very sweet...a Cottage Garden!
Love your garden pictures. The teapot is especially cute.
As for the poison ivy...get some Zanfel poison ivy wash and use it immediately after working in the poison ivy. It really works. It isn't cheap to buy, but so worth it.

Simply love visiting your garden. Apparently the lil' critters do too!
Life in your garden is sweet and can't be beat. Especially with a teapot fit for a fairy or a fine Queen Bee lady.
The snail goes to get the mail and he carries a big red pail, he never fails.
Life is sweet in that garden belonging to Carol we should put it on the front page of the New York Hearld!
The end, such a sweet visit,
LUV...Jacqueline
