Silly Weekend Finds-What Was I Thinking?!

Every Saturday, after I go to the bank, I hit all of the thrift stores in that area. I get there early and then get back home before it gets crazy! I was hoping to find some vintage Valentine decorations, or even vintage Christmas stuff at Goodwill. I like that they have their Christmas stuff out year round.
So how is it that I came home with this? It's an old light-up poodle blow mold. What am I going to do with this?! It says 1965 on the bottom, and it was only 49 cents, and it is cute. I guess from here on out, it will be an Easter Poodle, because I am going to put it out there with my light-up Easter decorations!

And I also bought this tiara. Seriously? What in the world possessed me to buy a tiara? The only thing I can think of is that I have once again been influenced by other bloggers. And it was only 49 cents. Do you notice a trend here? Put anything in front of me, mark it 49 cents, and I'll buy it!

But it does look rather nice beside my BlingBling jar! Which is woefully empty. I hope to find lots of old rhinestone jewelry at garage sales this summer, and fill that sucker up! So, did you buy anything silly this past weekend???

  1. I love both of your finds and for 49 cents each! How could you pass them up. The tiara looks wonderful next to your jar and with more Bling...it will be stunning!

  2. I love the poodle! I think it will look awesome no matter where you put it. Knowing me I would use it as a bedside lamp. LOL.

  5. Every girl NEEDS a tiara. That is just a fact. And what's a tiara without a precious poodle? Okay, I'm a sucker for anything under 99 cents too. Luckily my son is usually standing next to me whispering, "can you say nic-nac? Walk away."

  7. Really though, WHY did they ever make a blow mold poodle? What on earth was it meant for? Inquiring minds really must know.

  8. That blow mold poodle just made me laugh - I would have probably bought him too and stuck him in the studio with a home made party hat. He is just too silly. 49 cents is cheap entertainment these days too.

  9. Ok, I had to google it. It does have a light? There seem to be a lot of banks on the same page.

    Seems valuable!

  10. I think every queen should have a tiara and I love the idea of a jar of Bling!!! Guess I should do that with my Bling instead of it laying round in boxes!!
The poodle is fun and YES...I've had a few of "WHAT WAS I THINKING" moments...
    Warmly,

  12. Everyone needs a tiara! I still have one in my closet from when my girls were little and played dress-up. Every so often I put it on to remind them that I am queen of my castle. Silly but true. Haha!

  14. I bought a stuffed gorilla holding a giant red rose. She has HUGE red lipstick lips. Found her for 25¢ at the thrift and absolutely could not leave her behind. She's by the Valentine feather tree and she makes me smile, even hough she IS silly!

  15. I tell ya what you do with that tiara, girl. You wear it poudly crowned on your head, with a frilly 'lil apron & dance while you dust! Have fun with it & know you truly are the queen of your castle.

(Can't wait to see the poodle lit up. I'm sure it was all the rage in '65. lol!)

  16. We did go thrifting this weekend, but not much success. I only found one vintage sheet for $1.80. So many things are getting so expensive at the thrift stores lately :-( I never see anything for 49c.

  19. Oh I really enjoyed your post. I can just see that poodle sitting next to your Easter basket. And like everyone else has said...wear that tiara and let everyone know who's queen of the castle.
Don't hate me but this weekend at an antique mall I found two complete boxes of Shiny Brite ornaments. One box I got for $4.00 and one box for $1.50!! I also found two cute little vintage Santas for 50 cents apiece and two old bottle brush trees...one black and one copper colored ($1.00 apiece). I also found a 1939 Christmas book for $1.50. I LOVE the after Christmas sales.
    Have a great week!!
