Vintage Christmas And Some Cherries For REDNESDAY!

Today for REDnesday I'm sharing a couple things that I found at garage sales and the flea market a few weeks ago, put them away and promptly forgot about them!
I'd been hoping to find a vintage NOEL candleholder set for a few years now. This set came from the flea market. Speaking of the flea market, it got rained out last week, and sadly it will only be open for a few more weeks, weather permitting. A sad sign that summer is surely over!

This old table runner is folded in half. When unfolded, it's about 6' long. I hemmed and hawed about getting it, because really I have way too many vintage linens, just sitting neatly folded in a cupboard. That's not a very good excuse, is it? My friend put it in my hand, pushed me towards the cashier, and now it's mine. I'm so glad my friend is extremely bossy!

These two cherry towels also came from a garage sale. Again, thanks to pushy friend. Well, they were only a quarter each. It didn't take too much pushing....

If you would like to see lots of wonderful RED things, head over to It's A Very Cherry World, where Sue throws a RED party every week!

  8. I love those NOEL angels and yours are especially adorable. Pushy friends come in handy when we are himming and hawing. Been there many times. The pushy friends are usually saying "you HAVE to get it, it's so you."

  11. Everyone needs a good friend like that. I remember shopping with my friend Victoria years back. By the time we were ready to go home, I still had money in my purse so she hauled me into a mens thrift store and made me buy a dress coat for Len. She cracked me up. There was no way we were going home with any money left.

Your finds are as cute and wonderful as always...nice taste my vintage friend.

  12. What a delightful post! All of your goodies are wonderful, but the NOEL is amazing. I have a Lefton Lovelies group over at Flickr where there are lots of cheerful elves, but I've never seen this before. Wow!

  17. Hi Carol,
Of course you had to purchase the darling Christmas runner. It's too cute to pass on and the cherry towels were such a deal at 25 cents. They were begging to go home with you..lol.
I know what you mean about the "bell" on my blog. I heard it really late at night on someone's blog and thought I was losing it. I looked around my living room wondering where that sound was coming from. I'm happy to hear that I'm not the only one who reacted the same way. ;-)
Thanks for sharing with us all on Rednesday.

  18. Love those tea towels. Adorable. We're both thinking Christmas even though I always want to slow down this time of year. From September to December time seems to pop an energy drink or something. Where does the time go? Sigh...

    Happy Rednesday!

I also just read the story about your Sears Roebuck house--this is amazing!!! Would you mind if I post something about this on my other blog (Whimsical Musings) and send people over to your blog to read about it? I could post a pic of your house and add a link if you like...Just let me know. It is fascinating!!

  22. I do that all the time. It's like Christmas everytime I find something I forgot about! I love the look of stacks of linens even if they aren't being used. All the colors and patterns just peeking out on the folded edges is so cheery, or most likely, cherry!

  26. Thank goodness I too have bossy friends. A lot of what I own today, I wouldn't have gotten without being pushed. I love the linens but especially the breadbox in the background. By the way I think I have forgotten far more than I ever knew. Oh well.

  28. The little NOEL angels are precious!! I love little sets like this!!

Do you use your vintage linens? I have a towel like that one and love to use them though I know they will wear out. I used the one like you have to put on the counter for my jars of canning to cool off on- it makes the jars look so pretty an festive!

  32. Love your red things, all the things from your blog really. That hutch you liked is full of linens. Great minds think alike they say. We must be extra great because your bird house looks a lot like my bird house. Maybe it's just because we shop at the same type of "specialy stores". Hmmm...we'll go with the extra great mind thing.
