REDnesday!
I only have two things to share for this REDnesday. And when you're done looking at them, please head over to It's A Very Cherry World, where Sue hosts REDnesday every week.
I bought this quilt at the flea market on Sunday. I was immediately attracted to it, because it's RED!
It's a very pretty pattern, and I like it alot,.....
But I like the back even more!
Because the stars are made with polka dot fabric!
I thought this was the back of the quilt, but now I'm not so sure. The polka dot star side is pieced together, whereas the other side isn't. Which side do you think is the front?
My other red item came from our own hostess, Sue! She saw this at a book sale, and thought of me. Isn't she sweet?! I love this book, and it will fit in perfectly with all of my patriotic decorations. Would you believe this book is 110 years old? It's dated 1900! Thanks Sue!
So, how about heading over to Sue's now to say hello and see lots more reds?!
Wow - that quilt is a double bonus! Great find!
ReplyDeleteI can't tell the front from the back but love both sides! Gorgeous quilt. How sweet of Sue to get you that book!!
ReplyDeleteSue is so sweet to give you that book!! The quilt is awesome. I don't know which side is front but for me it would be the red stars.

Is there a remnant of a tag anywhere? Once upon a time fruit of the loom made quilts that look a lot like that printed side, but they were either white or printed on the backside, not pieced. It's possible someone added a pieced top to an already made manufactured quilt and then re-quilted them together. If that makes sense?
ReplyDeleteThat random swirly quilting is definitely more modern than old.
(thinking out loud really)
Anyway, I would say she meant for the stars to be the "top".
I'm voting for the polka-dot stars side, too. That book is SO you!
ReplyDeleteI think it doesn't matter which side of the quilt is which. They are both beautiful! Cool book.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm not the only one who tries to haul large pieces of furniture around by myself!
I cannot believe you found this pretty quilt at a flea market. I love quilts, and would never part with it.
ReplyDeleteCarol that quilt looks like it matches your vintage cookware pictured on your blog. What a fabulous find and like the others...who cares which side is the top.
ReplyDeleteThat was a perfect book for Sue to pick up for you, too. Thanks for sharing on Rednesday.
What a wonderful quilt! Love it! And a great find in that book!!
ReplyDeleteI go with TOTALLY reversible though I think the stars are the back. What a GREAT find. I know you love it.
ReplyDeleteI is difficult to find a quilt at a flea market that is in such good concition. That was a real
ReplyDeleteSCORE! I'd change out both sides but I would put my money on the pieced side as being "UP". Great find, enjoy.
What a beautiful quilt! I say BOTH sides are great. Thanks for sharing, Nan
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is a real find~ absolutely beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteOh my, that quilt is it gorgeous!!! happy rednesday...
ReplyDeleteReversable perhaps? It's a beauty either way.
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS!! I would call the pieced side the front. I cannot believe you found that beauty at a flea market...lucky, lucky girl!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!

Probably the pieced side is "supposed" to be the top, but it doesn't matter, both are great! And I see you're teasing us with the picnic baskets again. . .
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is a winner, Carol! I would guess that the stars are the front. But it looks good either way.Love the book too!
ReplyDeleteI don't know what to say about the quilt. Both sides are lovely. How sweet of sue to send the book your way. It is perfect for you. Have a cheery red day.
ReplyDeleteBoth sides are great so it's a bonus I guess. That's so nice of Sue to give you that book. Love it!
ReplyDeleteHappy REDnesday!
I'm polka dot crazy too. What a find....lucky.
ReplyDeletetootles,
bunny
I love the polka dot stars! The pieced side would be the front and the whole cloth side would just be backing fabric. It is really fun fabric though! :-) So glad it has found a new home with you, where it will be appreciated and loved!
ReplyDeleteOh Wow! I think a very smart quilter did a reversable quilt ;)
ReplyDeleteYou were a very smart and lucky girl to grab it up! It's great. And Sue is just too sweet!

The person who made the quilt must have spent a lot of time making it.
ReplyDeleteI made one and I don't think I will ever make another.
