Valentine Crafts For REDnesday!

It's about to get very Valentine-y over here! I intend to start decorating for Valentine's Day soon, but I'm kind of enjoying the lull between holidays right now. But now does seem like a good time to do some crafting celebrating the day of love!

I knew I wanted to make something in one of those huge paper mache hearts that you can get at Hobby Lobby, so when I found these vintage Napco kissing angels at a thrift store last week, I knew right away that they were just what I was looking for.

Oh look! Look in their hands! They're about to exchange hearts!

This is the lid from the heart box, and I call this one Sweetheart Cottage. But it needs something more. Any ideas?

This old candy box came from the thrift store last week too. Did you know that there was a period of several years where I wouldn't eat chocolate, because I heard that it could trigger migraines, which I suffered from? Lately I've been eating a few pieces a day, and do you know that I've been ok? And do you know that this Valentine's Day I'm going to make up for lost time in a big way?! Mr. Old Glory, if you're reading this, I want a big old heart-shaped box of chocolates this year!
If you'd like to see more reds, head over to It's A Very Cherry World, where Sue is our lovely hostess!

  15. I have saved these candy boxes from the thriftstore too, how clever to use them as shadowboxes. You might use one or 2 (vintage german) scraps, boy and girl in the second box.

Great idea, thanks for inspiration and have a great day!

  18. Lovely projects, Carol!! Hey, I heard we should eat a small piece of dark chocolate each day. No one needs to twist my arm. I can definitely manage that :)

  23. Love your heart creations. I love to thrift and have yet to find any Napco figurines. Great find! I think that litle garden house could use some tiny millinary flowers. I wish we had a Hobby Lobby here!

  28. Good day ahead to Carol! Come and peek at yesterdays post...a little tribute to you and today you'll see my vintage Barbie clock. You and I...two hearts joined in one...mission: Happiness!

The little house...hmmm..I want to put the bluebird of happiness in the sky or maybe a little birdnest with a valentine in it? You could add a little moss under the house or some white pebbles.

I love this idea. I've made some similar and I call them Fairyland Miniatures. They are so fun to make. Good box toppers for presents!

Working at Michael's in the mornings and home in the afternoons and I love it! Life is darn good!

Good enough to eat chocolate with you!

    Wink, wink...maybe someday!
