Rednesday-Linens and A Baby Quilt


I had to dig pretty deep to come up with a Rednesday entry today, but I eventually found a few things to share!

I've had this baby quilt for many years, and it has sweet little farm scenes hand embroidered on it.

A barn and windmill. That barn could use a brand new coat of red thread!

A little boy playing the banjo, serenading......

the little girl sitting on the fence. She looks enthralled, doesn't she? She wouldn't be the first girl who had her head turned by a musician!

The old apple tree, with a couple of chicks eating their feed.

I've tried several times to get the stains out of this quilt, but I guess it's going to require a good long soak. I've heard Biz works, some swear by Oxy Clean. What works for you?

A couple of old kitchen towels.


An old piece of fabric with a picnic theme.

I want that old thermos!

This pattern is so un-PC, with the pack of cigs sitting there as part of the dessert!

    Lovin' that great quilt, too cute! Have to chuckle at your "lady gardener" on the sidebar... oh yea, that's how I look in the garden too, except I'm usually covered in mud and look like I just wrestled a pig:@)

    the stains are not at all obvious in the photo so i would be careful about being too agressive. you run the ridk of fading/bleeding with the floss. perhaps a little sunbathe is all it needs.

    Nuh uh! I really had to dig today and you did much much much better in the red department than I did (my reds are really very "brick-ish" in color - hoping I will be granted a pass on my transgression teehee!).

    You found a lot of neat reds laying around. I love any embroidery work. I also notice the baby quilt was hand quilted.

    A good soak with biz should do it. Might even just want to soak that area. Detergent seems to eat older fabric. Oxy never has worked for me. I usually let mine sit overnight. I always laugh when I find those old vintage cards with kids holding guns and dads with their cigarettes! My how times have changed...Renee

    Love that quilt!I am such a fan of cross stitch.I'm a firm believer in Biz.Soak forever.And I've actually had remarkably good results with Oxy Clean as well.I like un-PC.Being incorrect is funny!Enjoy.

    Oh, I so love the quilt, and the kitchen towels.
    About the stains, I didn't really notice them. whatever you use it should be gentle. some people swear by Oxi-clean but I never had much luck with it.
    Digging deep brought many pretty reds for us to see today.

    You must be living it up large and in charge of vintage finds. You must be in your glory living in your Old Glory Cottage. I love your offerings for this post. I have no idea how to get the stains out, they hold such charm, tee hee...why bother?

    Hi Carol! I love your vintage textiles!!!! That picnic motif would make a great vintage inspired apron! I've found that Ultra Purex with Color Safe Bleach is working great. I find that it's cheaper too at Wal-Mart....findin a pattern here..LOL. Hope you find your Canon;)

    Just wondering if you ever found anything to get rid of the stains on your baby quilt (which I covet - it's soooo adorable!). I used to use this stuff called 'Incredible'. It's a tall white bottle, about 3" in diameter. There's red & blue printing on the bottle. Just put some on a white cloth & blot at the spot. I've gotten it at the grocery store (Kroger's) and at Walmart. I see that it's available online, but not at Amazon. Hope this helps! Leslie Anne
