DIRTY DISHES IN THE GARDEN!

Let's take a peek at what's happening in the garden this week!

It was time to get the "Dirty Dishes" fountain out of the shed. This fountain was inspired by my Grandma, who would wash her dishes in one of those old enamel bowls with the red rim.

Here's a close-up. I pulled the tube way up so that you can see the stream of water. I love to hear the water tinkling as I work over there in the "secret garden".

There are all kinds of columbine blooming right now. I have no idea where this one came from, because I surely didn't plant it. I think a bird must have made a "deposit"!

These are also volunteers. I love it when this happens!

These blue columbines are from my sister, and they're doing really well.

I wasn't sure this white clematis was going to make it, but it's got a good hold of the windmill this year!

Beautiful, isn't it?

And after a hard day of gardening, this is a great spot to take a nap! This vintage chaise lounge, with the barkcloth cushion, was a garage sale find last year, for $5.

It's also a great spot to read some of my favorite gardening magazines. And then take another nap!

  1. Those columbines are beautiful, and so different from the ones we have here in Colorado (it's our state flower!)

  4. The fountain is so cute! Clematis is one of my all time favorite flowers and they do not do well in our new location. I still am trying..don't know if it's too cold or the dirt is bad. Could be both.

  7. OOh, columbines, oooh, a secret garden! I have one of those tubs that is shot. Hmm, how can I fix the hole in it to make a fountain?

Your clematis is lovely. Or as my grandpa once said accidentally, "Hey that's a nice chlamydia, you got there"!

  9. How did you put the fountain all together? Very cute! One year I made a border out of Melmac plates. Maybe I'll do it again! I have a lounge like that, and it is so great to nap on! Summer is so fun!

  16. Carol,
Oh dear....I think I am coming to visit! Your backyard is sooo inviting! I just LOVE that fountain.....I guess I missed it last year.....I have been looking for one of those red rimmed enamel bowls forever....I think I need to go to a different part of the country to find them! Enjoy your back yard.....:) Sandy

  17. The clematis on the windmill is so pretty! Seems like the flowers are just getting started up here in Oregon but it's only Juneuary. :-)

  18. You did it again, made my heart glad. I love to see what you are doing in the garden. It inspires me. I have a huge clematis making it's way over the fence to visit the neighbors. So far no complaints on stray flowers. I have to put up with their kitty visits growling at my dogs so they should not mind 100 or so blooms visiting them!

  19. Your garden looks so beautiful! That fountain is one of the sweetest I've ever seen. Makes me want to have one too, but it would be inspired by you!

I have to tell you - I was at an estate sale the other day and found one of those apples too! I don't remember those from my childhood, but because of you, I had to get it.

Keep enjoying that beautiful garden of yours! And keep posting pictures please, so we can enjoy it too.
