MY WEEKEND FINDS

Thanks for tuning in to another episode of My Weekend Finds, the continuing saga of one girl's quest for more junk!
I went to lots of yard sales, but it was the estate sales where I really found alot of loot! And there were additions to lots of my collecting categories too.

The VINTAGE CHRISTMAS category saw alot of additions. None of this was priced, so I was pretty nervous when I brought it all up to the table to pay. The cashier asked if $6 was ok. That could possibly be the stupidest question I've ever been asked!

Oh, and little elf dudes? Yes, the rumors you've heard are true.

You WILL end up in this jar. just like every other elf!

The HALLOWEEN category saw lots of additions. These blow molds, vintage and new, were $1 each. I'm selling a couple of these, so check my sidebar to see what I'm UN-hoarding on Ebay.

These are some of the die cuts that I got at that same estate sale.

I've always wanted these two.

The best part is that they were 25 cents each!

The PATRIOTIC category got one addition. I've been seeing these hats all summer. They're vintage, and I love them, but they're made of styrofoam, and I've felt that they would break so easily. This one was so cheap that I decided I wouldn't feel too bad if it broke.

The McCOY POTTERY category got that big pink vase added to it.

And the VINTAGE AVON category received another parakeet bottle and that groovy Demistik, Hawaiian White Ginger scented. My favorite when I was a teenager!

And last we have three additions to the VINTAGE GARDENING TOOLS category. All in all, a very fine week for collecting. Again, don't forget to check out what I'm selling on Ebay each week, because you might have seen something here that you liked, and it just might be for sale!
So, did any of your collecting categories get some additions?

My Weekend Finds

It was a strange thrifting weekend. Every single thing I bought was holiday related!

Christmas was represented by a vintage Santa mug, an old bottlebrush tree and a Relpo Santa creamer or small pitcher.

Thanksgiving made an appearance through these two old postcards.

I don't why I bought these two pins. I don't wear pins, but I guess I needed to keep the holiday theme going. The spider on the left may be missing a couple legs, but he will get you with those fangs. And do you see the one in the web? He definitely sees you too. I found things for the 4th of July and Easter too, but they're still in the van, or my "storage on wheels" as I like to call it. Oh shoot, Mr. Old Glory wasn't supposed to know about that, but I forgot he reads this. Busted!

This last "find" isn't mine, but Mr. OG's. Do you like our newest statue? Petunia Possum was found inside the grill cover when Mr. OG went to put it back on the grill. I haven't moved so fast in years. I ran and jumped onto the bench by the back door, and Ms. P just looked at us and bared her teeth. The wildlife is definitely gettin' bolder, and I'm gettin' older. That jump onto the bench left me a little sore later that day!
So, did you find anything this weekend? And did it move when you found it?!

More Christmas Stuff, Of Course, For VTT

It's Vintage Thingies Thursday time again! When you're done looking at my stuff, please head over to Coloradolady, where Suzanne hosts this fun party every week.

This week I'm showing, oh I don't know, maybe MORE vintage Christmas things. You may be thinking, gee hasn't she run out of old Christmas stuff yet, because I'm so sick of seeing this stuff from her day after day after day. Well too bad, because there's still more! Lots more! Here we have an old Relpo Santa and his sleigh, full of satin ornaments. You may notice the pine cone in the little cloche. My daughter put that there, because she picked it up on a walk with her Grandma when she was little and has kept it ever since. Isn't that cute? Where does she get that "saving every little thing" from? Certainly not me! Must be her Dad.

Here we have my very small but growing Santa mug collection. That little one, second from the right, is all chipped up because it was stuck inside one of the bigger ones. After trying many different ways of getting it out, I put it in the freezer for a while and it finally wiggled it's way out! Pardon the orange glow in this picture. Weird fluorescent bulbs.

A little plastic Santa in his sleigh and reindeer.

And finally, no wisecracks here. The tree is vintage, NOT ME! I don't know how old I was here, but I still have that teddy bear in the background. I wish I had that tree too, but it was stored up in the attic, and raccoons got in and destroyed all of the Christmas stuff. So sad. Now please head over to Suzanne's to see more vintage thingies!

Christmas Decorating With Dollar Store Items!

I bought this huge old tool tote several years ago, when I was in my Northwoods decorating stage. I filled it with greenery and those electric candles that you can get at Dollar Tree. I decided to give it a little makeover.

I gave it a whitewash, and decided to go with blue accents. I have never really cared for blue in the past, but this year I have been drawn to it again and again.

I added blue glitter to the candles, and made the bow from Dollar Tree ribbon.

I think I will go back to Hobby Lobby tomorrow and get more of those glittery berry picks, because I think it needs just a little something more. I'm so not good at this type of thing, so I'll probably keep tweaking it 'til I get it right. Any suggestions are very welcome!

These are just those snowflakes that Dollar Tree sells in a box. I added fishing line, and I hope you can see that I added tiny little mirrors all down the line. Enlarge the picture if you can't see. They add a pretty sparkle as they twirl when you walk by.

These are supposed to be trees, again from Dollar Tree.....

but I flipped them over and added silver pipecleaners to make them into cones to hang from the knobs on this chest. I want to put something inside them, but I haven't decided what yet. Probably just some greenery, but I would like something a little more spectacular than that. Ah well, no hurry. It is still just November! I just wanted to show that it's easy to decorate using inexpensive things, and let your creativity turn them into something great. I am in no way affiliated with Dollar Tree. I just love that store!
