Vintage Birds

A DISCLAIMER: The cleaning woman was dusting again without her glasses on. And the photographer was too lazy to re-take the photos.

A couple of months ago, our daughter was in the bathroom, straightening her hair. I heard her say "What's the deal with all the birds?". I ran over, thinking there were a bunch of birds at the birdfeeder. She said "What's with all the birds in the bathroom?". I looked in the bathroom, and around the house, and I guess I have a collection and didn't even know it! The one above is a goldfinch. It's in the living room, not the bathroom.

The one on the left is a Tanager, and on the right is a parakeet. I think the parakeet is my favorite bird figurine.

On the left is a parrot, and an American Robin on the right. I got the robin for my birthday several years ago. It's one of my favorites.

I got this oriole last summer while on vacation in Wisconsin.

A lovebird wallpocket. From the fine bathroom collection.

This is an old cockatiel, I believe. Also a bathroom special.

Another bathroom bird.

These caged birds are also from the bathroom. I got them from Ebay, and I thought they were so cute. They are cute, but they also look like little hot air balloons, floating away....

A close-up of a dusty bathroom bird.

A bird on a McCoy planter. Another of my favorites.

I've had this birdie since I was a little girl. Could this one possibly be my favorite?

Finally, an old wall pocket with parakeets on it. I'm almost positive that this one is my favorite! But then there's all the roosters. Let's not even go there! Do you maybe have a collection that you don't know about? If you would like to see more vintage things that are hopefully not all dusty like mine, hop over to Coloradolady, where Suzanne is our wonderful hostess!

I love your vintage birds. I have found myself buying birds also lately and once I get a display arranged, I'll share. Love them all and it is so hard to pick just one favorite!

What a cute collection. I love the color of the parakeet. My husband is the one in our family that really knows the birds. He feeds them all winter and enjoys seeing what kind of birds he can attract to the feeders.
Happy VTT....almost forgot....I picked up some cabinet cards for you today. I'll put them in the mail soon.

I love your birds. I kind of have a bird thing going on. Isn't it funny how they multiply, and all of a sudden you have a collection.

I have a lot of bird figurines as well. I believe some of yours are more vintage than mine. You have a very nice collection whether you knew it or not.

Oh, Carol, I loved this little visit with all of your birds! You do have quite a few and they are all really nice - I think I might have to choose the sweetie that was yours as a child.

This made me think of some birds that I have around the house and put up in storage--oh dear, they might be a collection too. I didn't deliberately plan to collect them - I think they have been romancing and are multiplying that way!

Have a Beautifully Blessed 2010...

Hi Carol...
I find comfort in knowing I'm not the only one that loves birds. I've always fed them and watched them but they are also in two out of three of my bathrooms. One bathroom I have vintage birds and poodles...oh go figure that. I don't understand me either. I know what you mean, collections just pop up. All of a sudden I have little chairs here and there...oh yes, and clothes pins! I'll be showing that collection soon...likely over on my Auntie Jacquelines blog. Have you been there yet? It's a toos of serious and not serious at all!

Carol,
I love your birds! I have a few, a set of Norcrest bluebird S&P shakers and a sweet Avon parakeet bottle my son and I saw at an Antique Store. He went and got it for my for Mother's Day...love it! Your banner is so very sweet! Perfect for Valentines Day!

I love all your birds, Carol. I'm a bit of a bird lover, too. I really don't have that many though. It's funny the ones you said were your favorites, were my favorites, too. The parakeet is precious, we have a parakeet (real one) but she's all yellow, she's OUR favorite.

Love the new banner, too!

It looks like your birdies have been nesting without your knowing! Aren't you glad that don't leave anything to clean besides dustbirdies? I have the 'LoveBird' wall pocket in my bathroom...makes a great holder for the toothpaste:) This is my first VTT, and I'm really enjoying my visit to everyone's post. I hope you'll stop by and see my Vintage Head Vases.

WOW! How could you not notice such a collection? Just the bathroom alone! These are all great; I think the ones in the cages are my favs!
Don't worry about the dust with me, my eyes have gotten to where I don't notice it anymore unless it's a dust bunny!

WOW! That is a LOT of birds! I used to have a bunch of ceramic cats i had collected, but my real cat walked across the shelf they were on and knocked them all onto the floor.

Oh this collection is just wonderful!

They're too lovely to pick a favorite-I understand your dilemma!

Thanks for stopping by.

Love your bird collection. I had a blue parakeet just like the blue one you have. He was a pet for a long time and finally passed from old age.

Happy VTT,

Jo

How funny you posted this today and that I found you today because I too have the same bird planter in my bathroom and was looking at it this morning wondering if I should move it.

I love the bird figurines too. I especially like those you have that are pastel, like to lovebird! Surprising how you can have a collection "not-on-purpose"! Judi

Oh these are splendid. Like I just said to someone before there is no end to all the things I would collect if I had the space. Love them all but especially the hot air balloon ones. I didn't notice any dust and I love your disclaimer. Thanks for stopping by my blog. It was nice to meet you.

What dust all I saw was beauty. As I went down the row my heart pounded more. I love the bird on the planter the most. I have only 2 birds. Bought it years ago at a flea market and I have a yellow planter with 2 birds that belonged to my mother.

Hi Carol, I too love birds. I have a collection I have never shared. One day... Your daughter's comment about your birds made me laugh. Someone could definitely say that to me. Each bird you shared is darling.

What a great bird collection! I like your old flowerpots too.

It's okay Carol, we all have dust. I bet every blogger has stopped mid post and yelled, "Oh no, I didn't see that dust (or foot long cobweb) when I took the photo!

Your bird un-collection is wonderful. The colors are bright but soft if you know what I mean. You're all set if there's another feathered friends party this spring.
Hugs,
Dawn
