Prettifying The Porch

I got up real early Sunday morning, all ready to go to the flea market, but it was only 34 degrees, so I didn't go. That's three weeks in a row now that my flea plans have been foiled by the weather! Oh well, I still had lots of fun on Mother's Day. I played outside all day! I figured it was time to start prettifying the porches. First I started by dragging this birdcage out of the shed.

I planted a vinca vine and some pink impatiens in there, and all of the little fairies are standing guard to keep the squirrels out!

I put a tablecloth on the patio table, along with the umbrella. I also planted up a bunch of those baskets that you see in the background.

And planted lobelia in a tortilla warmer! A friend of a friend made this planter using one of those plastic tortilla warmers you can buy at the dollar store. She just cut a hole in the part that sticks up, and the umbrella pole slides right through it!

I also slapped together some little pillows for the bench. I'm hoping the squirrels won't rip these apart like they did the ones I made last year.

Another basket that I made, using one of my favorite flowers, Torenia.

The watering cans are back out on the bench that Mr. Old Glory made.

Lotsa pansies in the little windowbox, and a ladybug watering can on the shelf by the back door. Ok, so all of that was on the back porch. I'm not done yet, but soon I need to set my sights on the front porch too.

One last thing. I had to show all of the pansies on my $5 plantstand! I love this thing, even though certain members of my family call it "the bleachers"!

Love your pretty porch! I am inspired to go buy some flowers and plant them for my porch today. I need some 'bleachers' like you have. I love them. Glad you had such a good day.

Very pretty porch, great job. It's freezing on my porch this morning, bird bath is solid ice!
May have to borrow some of your great ideas.

Very nice Carol! I love the red and the watering cans is such a charming idea! We were very cold on Saturday too, it got down to 28 degrees! I want my spring back!

What a happy place to visit. I took time today and looked back at what I've missed over the week. The picture of your mom Carol is so wonderful. I love that, she is so beautiful and you are so fortunate to have her still. Precious, precious! You can see my mom playing her accordion today on my blog if you have time to take a peek. I'm back from Spokane...read all about my home getting robbed while I was away. Perfect chance to forgive the one I KNEW robbed us.
Your porch and my porch could be fast friends, just like us!
Hugging you, cause I care!

Your porch looks so inviting. I love the bird cage idea-I have an old one sitting in my garage. That's just the thing to use it for. Thanks!

Ahhhh. can I come sit for awhile???? This sweet little porch is perfect!!!!!! How nice you have a back and front porch! The idea of the tortilla warmer as a planter is too cool! I might just get one and fill it full of flowers and put it on my table! I don't have an umbrella table anymore....I think it would be fun to have a Dollar Store item repurposed day post....think of the things we would see! :)

We love your porch!! Like we said before, we love that bench and those colorful watering cans!! You did a great job. We hope those squirrels don't get to those pillows, they are so cute! We can't wait to get working in our yard again, but it has been cold and very windy lately!!

Have a great week,

Go team! Love the "bleachers" and I've been looking for something like that for a while. Your porch looks marvelous and I just know those naughty squirrels will stay away if they know what's good for them. It looks so cute. I need to go get my patio in shape too.

I will really miss my own porch! Enjoy! yours!

Your photo of the watering cans inspired me. I have a few in rough shape that would look so pretty in a new vibrant color and then put in a line. Face it, I just love stopping by and taking away all your great ideas. Thanks.

It looks like you are ready to sit down with a glass of lemonade and enjoy the fruits of your labor. It all looks so pretty. I love the different colored watering cans and the bench your husband made. The tortilla warmer is a great idea. Thanks for sharing.
