Little Toy Stove - Vintage Thingies Thursday!
It's time for Vintage Thingies Thursday over at Coloradolady, where Suzanne is our hostess, and we share our vintage things!
Today I am sharing an old toy stove. I guess this was before the Easy Bake oven! I think I remember burning many things in there, including myself! It was originally my sister's, then mine, and since then many little kids have played with it. I gave it a fresh coat of paint back in the early 90s, for my daughter to play with. It hasn't been plugged in for a very long time, so I'm not sure if it still works, and frankly I'm too scared to try it!
I saw recently on The Farm Chicks blog, that it can be used to hold dish towels. I liked the idea so much that I copied it!
But when little ones come over, this is what it looks like. Little pots and pans, and a teapot, all ready for playing house!
And when the "food" is ready, it can be served on these old tin plates! Now please head on over to Suzanne's, and see more vintage thingies!

What a beauty. Would you believe back in the early 60's I had a kid size one that had a lightbulb that came on under the "burners"...and I also had a refrigerator. My little brother and sister crawled inside them and ruined them...they were actually only made of cardboard. I've never forgotten them..they were precious to me. (My brother and sister are too....now.... :)
Oh, Carol I love this little toy oven. I think I had a pink one something like this. What a great idea to put in your dish towels.
Debbie
I remember getting burned once on an Easy Bake Oven...ouch!
This is is very cute, I'm glad you found a good decor use for it!
PS...my word verification is "undies"...LOL...LOL!
I would love to have a real stove just like this! The red and white together are just my cup of tea.
You did it again! Super cute!

What a cute little stove and you still had it from your childhood. How cool is that. I love tin toys.
Oh my dear, that is just THE cutest thing! Glad it gets used and loved!
Oh how cute! I love that. I'm sure they could not sell a toy stove that plugged in and actually heated up "nowadays". It would be recalled because of dangers. I can't believe that, when I was a child, I had a miniature iron that plugged in and got hot! I left it on the hardwood floor one time, and made a perfectly iron-shaped burn in the wood. Love your miniature pots, pans and dishes too. laurie
this is too cute for words!!..i was shocked to read that you could actually turn it on, what were they thinking!!..no way would that be allowed these days!..btw it looks gorgeous with the dishtowels :)
I never had a toy stove, but I had a lot of toy pots and pans.
What a cool toy stove....and I think it is awesome that it is still being used by your family. Thanks for sharing your vintage treasure.
THOSE TIN PLATES!
drool drool
Ooh wonderful, love this!!
A toy stove you can burn yourself on sounds VERY dangerous to me, but it sure looks cute! My best friend had a play house with a tiny little stove which we heated with real wood and baked clay cakes in the oven. We were about 10years old and knew how to be careful.
That is just too cute. What an adorable find!
happy VTT!
Just adorable! The towel idea too! Thanks for the farm chicks link. I had forgotten about them.
Every year at Christmas, I would get a new "bake set". I loved those tiny pans and boxes of cake mix! LOVE! ♥
I'm jealous. I never had a cute little stove to burn myself on. LOL! Great that you still have it.
Thanks for sharing!

Oh wow Carol! Such a beauty!! I love it! What happy memories it must carry for your family.

I love that little stove. I have never seen a child's stove that actually works and that you can cook on! They just don't make toys like that anymore.
This is so sweet....I love it, and what cute little rooster plates....I never had one of these maybe that was because I was a tomboy and was more interested in robots!! Now...the robots hold no interest...only cute little things like this stove!
Have a great VTT and a wonderful weekend.
How cool...love those tin plates
Love the little stove! I think my sisters and I had the exact pans, but no stove, we were cheated! Fun tin plates too!
That stove!! Those plates!! I'm swooning...

I love it. Wish I could see it BESIDE something so I could tell how big it is.
I used to LOVE to play in little play houses. My grandparents had one in the back yard - - - fun times.
Wow, thats a great post for VTT! I love that stove! I've never seen that stove and I didn't realize there was one besides the easy bake ovens...but love what your doing with it!
So cool, but definitely needing parental supervision! having all boys I never saw these girlie toys.
This is wonderful! What a fun little oven!
How neat; great that you are using it, too. I may have to steal those awesome plates.
I love your little stove! It's so cute!
Thank you for the congrats! I am over the moon excited!
Lindsey
I love your little toy stove! It has such wonderful details-it really looks like a full size stove, especially with those adorable pots and pans on it! Love the tea kettle!
I always wanted a red and white kitchen (sigh!) :)
I love the stove!!! I would have liked your stove much better than my Easy Bake oven. What a treasure you have. Thanks for sharing it. And thanks for visiting my blog & leaving me a comment as well as becoming a follower. I really appreciate it.
OMG that is absolutely TOO cute! I've never see anything like it. Deprived! Cute little pots too. Thanks for coming over to my post!
Oh wow! How adorable! I want to go shopping right now.
What a cute idea; to use it for dishtowels. The tin plates are just the cats meow.
I want to go shopping.
Oh, I want one! That stove is just way too cute. I so wish I still had my Easy Bake Oven - it made me who I am today...able to bake very small things - from a mix. HA HA HA Great post! ♥
What a cute stove! With my early
"kid baking" skills it probably
would ended up on fire and the cake
burnt. Thank goodness for the much
easier Easy Bake Oven! (Our house and I survived!) ((Laughing))
I'd say that beats an e-z bake oven any day. It really struck a chord with everyone! I should have linked up today but was sidetracked working out some kinks on my template. I NEED to let go of the perfectionism! It drives me crazy.

That stove is just a delight! Just the perefct spot to store pretty dish towels! I love this!
Love your charming little stove!
I want one just like it(smile)....thanks for sharing yours....
Much blessings
You find the most fascinating treasures! These are so much fun and bring back memories of other times. Those tin plates are so COOL! Great finds! Have a great weekend, too!!!
I have been watching for a little red and white stove like this for a while now....One day I will have one! Yours is SO adorable!!
