My Weekend Finds

Thanks for tuning in to another episode of My Weekly Finds!

It was rather surprising how few garage sales there were, considering that it's July and the height of garage saling season. I had a wad of singles burning a hole in my pocketbook, and not a heck of a lot to blow it on! I was thrilled, however, to find that lovely old Floraline vase, and the Lefton bride and groom.

Finally, a little Christmas in July! All Shiny Brites, and I got it all for 50 cents.

This little example of pink lusciousness was found at the flea market. It took about 20 minutes to clean the nooks and crannies in those numbers, but for $2, it was totally worth it. I can't wait to see it hanging on my mint green kitchen walls!

A couple of old Little Golden Books. I've been yearning for that Our Flag book for ages. The dominoes will be used in my Halloween decorations.

Can someone tell me why we scribbled in our books when we were little? And why, for the love of all that is good in this world, did this kid have to scribble all over the Pledge of Allegiance???

The watering can, pink planter, yellow planter and the birdhouse with the flowers on it are also recent finds.

Which required rearranging everything on these shelves that Mr. Old Glory made for me. I guess I should have showed the before shot! He also made the birdhouse on the top that is a replica of our home. He is awesome!
Until I do some rearranging inside the house, all future pottery is going to have to go on the front and back porches. Which will then have to come in for the winter. Or maybe I should just stop buying pottery. But I see no need to panic just yet......
So what did YOU find this weekend?

You did so well!!! The clock does take the prize! But I love the little books and scribbles are annoying but show some child was trying to learn something...at least that is what I tell myself....

I love your pink clock what a find!
You have a great knack for getting awesome things.
We were not allowed to be near a pen and a book at the same time. We knew better as kids.

First, let me say, LOVE your blog header! Don't know how long you've had it, since I haven't been around!

Secondly, I have to share. I have been so busy I didn't even decorate for the 4th. I know, it killed me! But I didn't have the energy! The only thing that made it up was a quilt on my front door!

Third, SUPER finds!!! Love those Golden Books. and Shinies! What a talented Mr. Glory!

Carol, what a haul you made - I wasn't expecting all of that after you said there weren't many sales. I can't believe you got those wonderful Christmas ornaments for that price. The clock is so retro cute! I want Mr. Old Glory to make me one of those wonderful bird house replicas of my house. The shelf he made is great too. Do you rent him out? Loving that cute watering can with cherries. laurie

I found some china! I was very happy with it, too! :-)

Love those shelves that Mr. Glory made for you and all the cuteness you have found to go on them. Neat finds.

I love this question:

"Can someone tell me why we scribbled in our books when we were little? And why, for the love of all that is good in this world, did this kid have to scribble all over the Pledge of Allegiance???"

I went one better and scribbled all over my sister's BIBLE! And I drew pictures of something that was supposed to be her, I'm sure, but looked more like Caspar. Several of my book had scribbles in them. Why? Just because! ;-)

XO,

Sheila :-)

That should read "books"... it's late, and I'm tired! Actually, it's late, and I'm OLD. ;-)

The pink clock makes my heart leap...I love it Carol. A whole $2.00 that was very extravagant of you to spend so much...tee hee. I'm loving pink too and it was fun to see your pinks in the kitchen. I think I'm a 1950's homemaker at heart.
The idea of the birdhouse on the scale is cute as can be. I've picked up two birdhouses at the Antique show and I'll be posting on a blog near you...tee hee.
Think Pink and enjoy your Tuesday! Box should arrive anyday now from the cupcake walk.

the pink clock was something i had never seen in pink.looks like you had fun.

I totally understand your frustration with the book scribbles. I never did that as a kid. Why do some kids just need to destroy stuff? Really iritates me when I find a cute vintage book to buy and then open it up and it is scribbled up.

oh my gosh growing up we had a gold clock just like the pink one. I thought it was so gauche to have a cord hanging from a clock that I hid it from my parents at some point. I ended up buying them a new one for Christmas. But what would I give to have that old yellow/gold clock back!

I am so jealous of your Flag book!! I have never seen one of those...needless to say, I'll be on the lookout for one now!! I have that Frosty book....and an old Alice in Wonderland book and a Mary Poppins book (all Golden Books). My 4 year old gr. girl insists that I read them to her!! I love it!!

I am linking you on my Pink Sat. post tomorrow!!!
