My Weekend Finds and A Dirty Little Secret

I was wondering why there were so few garage sales this past weekend, until I remembered that it was Labor Day weekend. People were trying to squeeze the last bits of fun out of summer!

So I had to rely on the old standbys, thrift stores and the flea market. This picnic basket came from a thrift store. Sure it's pretty beat up, but beggars and basket collectors cannot be choosers! Anyone know how to get baked on tape residue off of this, without taking the paint off too?

I found some holiday stuff too, like these Halloween decorations.

And this little leprechaun is perfect for St. Pat's Day. In all my years I've never seen these before, and now this is my second one this year! One of the coolest things about this one is that it says "Made In Japan" in Irish on the bottom.

A Goodwill find, this old Lefton piece is so cute, but man are those kids grubby! This is going to need a good scrubbing.

This birdcage was my only garage sale find. It's a great start for prettifying the top of that armoire.

This is what the other end of it looks like. A dusty catch-all for stuff that I don't want to put in the attic or basement. It was my dirty little secret. Until now! I love that armoire, but I didn't think you were ever going to get to see it until I cleaned that mess up. Now you know. Please tell me that you have a place in your house that is never going to be seen on your blog too. I can't be the only one! I'll share an AFTER photo soon. So, did you find anything good this weekend?

Morning Carol,
Goo-gone will take off sticky stuff and won't hurt the item..we use it all the time!
Nice finds for a "slow" weekend and the Halloween goodies are super. It's hard to find older Halloween treasures!
Have a great day and I didn't see any "dirt"!
Warmly,
deb :)

Oh my, what a find on the picnic basket. I have been trying to win one on ebay but they always go for more than I want to pay. Try some wd40 on the tape. I have used it to take tar off a Sunbeam bread sign we found under the old shingles on my potting shed. It didn't do anything to the paint. But the paint on the basket is different, so test it first.

I don't have a blog, but I will admit that I won't let people see my bedroom.LOL

Hi Carol,
I agree goo-gone works on anything I have tried it on so far! My favorite of your finds is the candy cane sled and hope you will send me a photo once you bathe those kids!! It is really cute. I so don't show my house. We have been here a little over a year and still have boxes everywhere that need going through and then put in the basement. Yikes...maybe someday I will have a put together house...

Hugs
Linda

Hi Carol,

Love the Halloween molds! I use W-D40 also, for sticky stuff. Takes all those pesky sticky store labels off. Great for tar on stuff on your car also.
The sled is so cute too, hope the kids come out clean.

Nice finds for a slow weekend! I love the green picnic basket. My sister called all excited the other day because I had given her a vintage plaid ice chest for Christmas and she saw it on I Love Lucy.

Oh dear Carol, you know my house is just perfectly organized ---NOT! Right now I'm looking at a canister of counter wipes, burned out light bulbs, and a coffee grinder that I neglected to put back away. Looking forward to seeing what happens to that armoire.

Carol you will never see the inside of my house! it is dust bunnie heaven! Have you tried some avon skin so soft oil or plain vegetable oil to remove the tape residue? your figurines look quite old! I hardly get out to look anywhere & when I do, I can never find a rummage/yard sale... at least any good ones! maybe it is the area I live? It gets a lot of people people on vacation & staying at some of the resort hotels, so people want big $ for junk! LOL. Have a wonderful weekend! Faythe~

Carol! My heart skipped a beat to see the candy cane figurine. I gave mine to Goodwill and was so sad afterwards. I created a little ornament for Lindsey, Two Crazy Crafters in remembrance of it. This has just made my day to see it again! Have a lovely weekend! Elizabeth

I'm sorry. Did you ask us to choose only one place that will never appear on our blog? I adore that Lefton candy cane piece.

Hey! Appears like you might have a great group heading on here. I am unable to put up anywhere else since my password hasn't arrived nevertheless, but I desired to introduce myself here in this.
Name is Vicente; At present finishing up my Physics Major at OSU, and will possibly continue to be at OSU for my graduate studies. I am a current convert to the YEC model and I'm quite enthusiastic to find out more about it -- which is why I am right here.
I almost certainly will not publish for a week or so, as I'll be investing my time reading all previous messages attempting to obtain a sense for what has already been mentioned.
I look forward to debate and discussion.

The S, T, and ST scales are employed for trig capabilities and multiples of trig functions, for angles in levels.
For angles from around five.7 up to 90 degrees, sines are identified by comparing the S scale with C. The S scale has a second set of angles (sometimes in a various color), which run within the opposite direction, and are utilized for cosines. Tangents are found by comparing the T scale with C or, for angles greater than 45 degrees, CI. Widespread forms for example ksinx could be read directly from x around the S scale to the result on the D scale, when the C-scale index is set at k. For angles below 5.7 levels, sines, tangents, and radians are approximately equal, and are identified around the ST or SRT (sines, radians, and tangents) scale, or simply divided by 57.3 degrees/radian Inverse trigonometric capabilities are discovered by reversing the method.
Several slide rules have S, T, and ST scales marked with degrees and minutes. So-called decitrig models use decimal fractions of levels instead.
