My Weekend Finds
I finally had some luck thrifting last week! It's been rough going lately, but I knew if I kept popping in, I was bound to find something good.
I've wanted one of these Christmas card files ever since I first saw one on Laurie's blog, Magpie Ethel. And let me tell you, it's helped me out alot since I brought it home. I've sent out a grand total of one card so far! I also found that bunch of old Christmas cards for a quarter each.
I thought this old Made In Japan gingerbread house was so cute, even though Hansel and Gretel's every move is being watched by the wicked old witch hanging out the door, waiting to eat them!
This is the second tin with this design that I've found this year, and although I really love that big fat bumblebee on the lid, that's not why I bought this one.
It's because of what was inside! I won't tell you how long I played around with these, trying to show each one off to it's best advantage. Question: How many pretty ornaments does a person have to buy before they finally stop being absolutely thrilled every time they find more?!?
I added the Santa and the tree to my small Gurley candle collection.
I think my favorite find last week was this vintage child's watering can. These things are so outrageously expensive that when I see one cheap, which is very rare, I want to do a cartwheel or something. Instead, I just grab it and walk somewhat quickly to the cashier! So, did you find anything last week that you flipped over?

I think the answer to your question is...NEVER! You never stop being delighted by nifty old ornaments. There is a thrill every time I come across them and as I've explained - I really should stop but that is so not going to happen. Your watering can is a major score. Good for you. Enjoy!
Wow, cute and adorable finds this week. Love that Christmas card file. Brings back happy memories to me of my mom sitting and writing her cards every year.
How fun to find a tin full of such pretty ornaments and that watering can is Adorable.
Great finds - I have downsized so am selling off my finds! Hard to resist buying more but I do! Hope to send your giveaway package this week. Thanks for being patient!
Wow, you continue to find such great vintage treasures!!
You really hit the jackpot-the ornies are spectacular! Love the recipe box too, you better get going on those card, girl!
I had to come back after reading the previous post-glad your Mom is doing better. And cute, cute Christmas box that you made!
I love your finds and I'm like JunqueMagnet, I hope never! Never stop being delighted with old ornaments.
I found some cute Santa mugs (new not old) but I still like them. I would love to find one of those Christmas card boxes also! hugs, Linda
I've been buying them for years and it's still exciting to find more!! I love all your goodies!
the answer to the question of how many ornaments is you will NEVER have enough!!!!
That little Christmas card file was quite the score -- I've never seen one except here and on Ethel's blog. You must have been so excited to find it at a thrift store!
Congrats on the Christmas file box...they are out there..you just need to hunt them down! Wahoo!
wow what a great box of ornaments. I would be doing a happy dance if I found them. I think you can never have enough vintage ornaments. happy Holidays,
Carey
The tin of ornaments was such a great find! You can NEVER have too many vintage ornaments (at least that's what I keep telling myself)!
Have a great week.

Lovely finds-everything looks good. Won't you stop on by the Bavarian Christmas going on right now.
Love your blog and the McCoy pottery in one of your photos...I collect that, too. Looking forward to reading future posts and enjoying your vintage finds. Happy Holidays!
What great finds! I did not find any treasures this weekend. Most of the thrift stores are being invaded and cleaned out. But it's still fun to check things out :-)

Lovely finds Carol! I always love finding old ornaments although I do have quite a stash so I pass up a lot of them these days.
Have a wonderful week!
Blessings~
Nice finds!!!
No "shopping" for me until the New Year! I have a "few" radios to sell!
Sure enjoyed seeing your goodies.
Warmly,
deb :)
Thanks for coming to see me especially at a time when mom's health has been compromised. I'm glad she is in a nursing home to re-coop. They are like mini hospitals out here and most of them have lost their icky unclean smell and are really good now and folks get good care.
The one thing I notice when I visit your blog (besides my heart pounding with glee) is that you either have so much of what I have or you have seen it. Everything from Avon to the christmas card box and even making those little miniatures. I just started making something similar and I call them Fairyland Miniatures. So far I've sold one! Tee hee...more than I ever expected.
Oh my, I'm writing a letter again...
Better hit the sack...doggies are waiting for me to crawl in.
Love to you and I'm praying for the very best outcome for your mom.
Oh shoot...I forgot to answer your question. This week I found a Pinocchio ornament that is old and I love it and three old Raggedy Ann books and a gingerbread man tree...hard to describe but it's cute!
I don't have the answer to your question, either! Hasn't happened yet, and I don't think it ever will!
Carol,I can't imagine finding a tin full of ornaments like that! It's something to dream about, eh?
Come by my blog to see today's post and you'll see my latest treasures! ♥
You can NEVER have too many ornaments. The day I get blase buying ornaments will be the day I stop. It's a wonderful high! Oh, and the reason I say you can never have too many...because someday your tree may fall down! Like ours did two weekends ago. I lost about 2 dozen. Luckily, no family treasures and only three I was a little upset about! No more big trees for us! We cut that 9 and a 1/2 footer down to 8'!
Great stuff Carol! I especially love the recipe box and yes, I also squeal with delight when I find shiny ornaments. It's a curse, really.
xoxo

Love your finds! Especially the watering can. I collect those and the old tin litho sand pails and shovels, and they have gotten very, very pricey, especially the ones marked Chein or Ohio Art. Never have found one at a thrift store.
