Christmas Around The Cottage~REDNESDAY

It's REDNESDAY! It's also the day that I've kicked the indoor portion of the Christmas decorating extravaganza into high gear. If you don't like red, or vintage Christmas, you better skip this blog altogether for the next few weeks!
I love that elf  Maureen over at Nest 'n Feathers sent me. I also love those bottlebrush trees and I pretty much love how great the reds look with the aqua clock, where the time is always a couple of minutes before 6. Still need to cut off the cord and make it battery operated!
My favorite Christmas tablecloth is now in place.
Is it just me, or is that tree on the left very How The Grinch Stole Christmas-ish?!
A little handmade quilt that I found at a thrift store last year. I kept the tag on it, because I just couldn't believe that it was only $3.00. It's fun to keep reminders like that. This way, it will always be known as That Little $3.00 Christmas Quilt!
And I've added those red bells to the green cabinet. One of my favorite Christmas memories is of the red bells that my Mom would hang in the window at our house. When I hung those same bells in our daughter's bedroom, she was transfixed by them too, and would fall asleep to the little "ping" sound that they would make as each bell took a turn blinking. Unfortunately they're pretty old now, and old wiring scares the bejeebers out of me, so they have been retired to the attic for now, and these newer ones are becoming a real favorite. So this is some of what I accomplished today. If you love the color red, head over to It's A Very Cherry World, where Sue hosts this Rednesday party every week. And keep coming back here to see more of my Christmas reds!

I have my Grama's bells too! I don't use them because they stopped taking turns blinking. That was Christmas to me, driving two hours and pulling into the driveway at Grama and Grampa's house and seeing the bells light up one, two, three. I found another set at the flea market last summer and bought them too. One in the bay window in the living room and the other in my master bedroom. Ah...Christmas joy.

Hi Carol, your cheery Christmas reds just make me smile. Especially since you've added a bit of aqua. Red and aqua is my favorite color combo. Always love your vintage touches. I think I have that same little Santa. Haven't found mine yet? Still have a couple more boxes to pull out.
Hugs,
Jann

I have that tablecloth, and it's my favorite as well. Thanks to you, whenever I look at it from now on I will always think of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" when I see that tree graphic! All of your decorations are so festive! :) --Fran

Those bells must be cool when they blink! And I love your vintage-y background of Xmas designs on the "sides" of your blog. Too cute!!

That tablecloth kills me! It is gorgeous! I have a set of bells very similar to those. I got them at an estate sale over the summer in the original box. I would love to be able to hang them and plug them in but I don't have an outlet in the ceiling! Can't wait to see more. Keep it coming!

Happy Holidays:-)

I love it all Carol! I think it's cute you kept the price tag on your quilt. $3 for a handmade quilt is pretty dang good!

You know me-I love red and vintage so I'm in love with all of you decor. The vintage tablecloth is beautiful. I love the top of your green hutch. I didn't even think of making an old clock battery operated. I have one that I'm going to do this to. Great idea!

Oh how lovely. You're way ahead of me. I have my tree up but only partly decorated - waiting for grandkids to come help me. They have an elf too and are really enjoying the game of finding him each day. Have a blessed season!

You have the best stuff Carol! I adore your Christmas cloth, so lovely. Love your green cabinet and how you've decorated it. I'm soooo with you on old wiring, holy heck, it's scary! I inherited my mom's Santa with the candle that "bubbles", that charmed me as a child, and it scares the bejeezus out of me now.

Happy holiday Rednesday!

You are so right about the Grinch Tree!
I love those bells. I passed on some last year and have regretted it.
WTG on getting to your indoor decorating. I haven't had a chance to even get the tree done yet.

Happy Rednesday

So cute, as usual! My mom had some sleigh bells on a vertical strip, maybe six or so, hanging from the front door each year. It was so annoying! But I wish I had them now to hang on the wall!
