Thanks for tuning in to another episode of My Weekend Finds, the continuing saga of one girl's quest for more junk! |
And made her a patriotic decoration for my van! I painted her outfit red, added a little bit of glitter but not too much, because I didn't want to weigh her down and make her unable to dance. Then I gave her a flag to wave! I know what you're thinking. You're thinking "This girl has too much time on her hands". The truth is pretty simple: If they don't sell it, I have to make it! Dollar Tree makes a solar thingie for every holiday, so why not the 4th of July? An Uncle Sam would be ideal, but I wasn't about to make a beard and hat for her. C'mon Dollar Tree! |
It was a great day at the flea market today. All of these vintage beach toys for very little $$$. |
Vintage Dennison St. Patrick's Day die cuts. The more I look at that leprechaun, the more creeped out I get by him! |
Vintage aqua pottery isn't real common around here, so when I see it I get excited and when it's cheap it's coming home with me! |
I bought these vintage parakeet s&p shakers and added clips to them. If I could just stop buying old bird cages, I wouldn't need birds to put in them..... |
I found this plant hanger and pot all in a tangle on the ground at a garage sale. Although the plastic pot looks ok, I knew I wanted a vintage piece of pottery in there. |
Much better, but I'll keep my eye out for something aqua! |

Aren't you the clever gal with your Dollar Tree makeover! Vintage beach toys, be still my heart. Your bird shakers look rather at home in your cage. Loving all your amazing finds, as usual. Always happy to see a new post from you!
Great finds, especially my favorite the metal sand pails & shovels. We all got new ones when we visited our grandparents in Venice Beach, CA every May back in the 50's at the 5 & Dime right there at the beach. I felt 5 years old again when I saw your picture.
love all your goodies.. especially the tin beach toys. I never see any that I can afford. usually very expensive. youre lucky! and Im going to have to hit the dollar tree now to find myself a little hula girl! LOL!
happy day!

Morning, wow!!!! you do find the neatest goodies, love them all, Francine.
My flea market closes in the summer. That just doesn't seem right! So I have to travel to shows and hunt garage sales for treasures. Isn't it so much easier when everything is in one place?!
I found a pink birdcage at a garage sale a few weeks ago and have been on the hunt for just the right birds for it. Love your idea to attach hooks to a pair of shakers. So nice to have blog friends to do the thinking for me :-)

As usual, I love what you got. I love the salt & pepper shakers! You do know that your photo of the yellow hanging planter was totally photobombed by the sleeping pet in the rear, right??:) I always thought that leprechaun was evil too...I wondr if someone based that scary movie on that vintage Dennison design?? Your posts make my day! I look forward tot hem so much! Happy Summer. Maggie
Your leprechaun definitely has his eye on that pretty little Colleen.

Wow you really found some wonderful and cute finds!! Love your sweet sand toys and the Easter chick cart with the basket! How clever with the plant hanger and to stick a pretty vintage piece in there too!! :) Cute makeover for your hula girl too!! Hope you had a wonderful 4th!! :) xo Holly
I don't know where to start!! Love the beach toys. Usually they are soooo expensive. Your hula girl turned out very cute and time spent on something that makes you happy is time well spent. I am a big fan of aqua so love your planter. All your goodies are cool. Magazine holder is unusual. You did well. No junking for me, did yard work and worked on the potting shed.
Not much new junk here, but I'm in love with the pottery and the birds! I love the pink but aqua also catches my eye when I see it!
hugs,
Linda
LOVE IT ALL!!!! Especially those parakeet S&P's....I would love to find a set of those for my vintage bird cage out back...:) if you ever see another pair please think of me...I will pay you! :)
So much fun...I so wish I could do this and be as productive here in Mesa!
oh my gosh! I am so jealous of your finds! thanks for stopping by. yes, I had WAY too much fun making those patriotic girls. so much so that I ordered more on Ebay (my original intent was to sell them on my Etsy shop and now here I am buying more!) I'm thinking for the next ones....Halloween gals!
Carol, that is a great magazine holder. I love that you can see the whole cover of the vintage magazine!
That is a cute idea on the hula girl. You are right. She wouldn't make a good Uncle Sam. Maybe Aunt Samantha, but not Sam.
Great Finds!
Lucky on the vintage beach. I saw a darling sand pail yesterday at the flea, but the $45 price tag made me pass. High five!
Love those hula girls!!! And the way you gave her a makeover! Cute!
Love all your sweet finds!! The beach toys are always so cute!! Beautiful green magazine holder! Have a great week! xo Heather
Love those beach toys, Carol!

Wow, those are lovely vintage finds. Congrats, and nice writeup! :)
That plant hanger is gorgeous! The pink planter definitely looks better though :D
Your finds never fail to amaze me! Why don't we have such treasures here in my part of the country??? So nice to buzz in here - I'm starting to get my blogging groove back again.
I can see why you went back and got the magazine rack! Great piece.
