REDNESDAY-Cherries and Ladybugs!
I saw these cherry plates at the thrift over a week ago, but passed them by, thinking that I had nowhere to display them, and no room in the cupboards so that we could actually eat off of them. I'm sure you know where this story is going. Suffice it to say that I couldn't stop thinking about them, and when they were still there a week later, I took it as a sign that they should come home with me. I only wish that there had been a full set of them!
I found this cute ladybug quilt at an estate sale, and I can't decide whether to leave it as a quilt for the porch swing in front, or make a cushion for this bench and one for the porch swing. I love having cushions and pillows on them in the summer, but after what the squirrels did to them, I'm not so sure I want to put the time and the effort into making something cute, and then crying like a big baby when they get destroyed!
And last we have a bunny made from a vintage hankie and a rhinestone-encrusted pin. You don't see too many red bunnies, so I grabbed her!
I normally wait for Sue, our REDnesday hostess, to put her post up before I publish mine, but I recently have become caregiver to my Mom, so I've had to really start budgeting my time. I don't know how you ladies with full time jobs do it all!
Please drop by It's A Very Cherry World, where Sue will have a list of other red lovers for you to visit!

Carol, those are adorable plates. Those would be hard to pass up. I am glad they were still there!
I absolutely love that quilt. I have never seen a ladybug quilt. I don't have a problem with squirrels tearing things up on my porch. I have the neighborhood cats come and take their naps on my cushions!
Have a good day
Hey, carol! You certainly ARE on the ball this morning!
A hanky bunny! How fun! I bet there are all kinds of things we could make with hankies.
That quilt is too cute! I'd probably keep it in the house at night.
Have a great day! ♥
Have I mentioned how much I love your Easter header? CUTE! ♥
Love your buys, they are so cute!
Bee happy x
Have a delicious day!
Very cute! You give me so many good ideas! I love the hankie bunnie!

Carol I love those plates! I am so glad they were still there. The quilt is so pretty I would hate for the squirrels to destroy it. As for the hankie bunny....too clever for words. Wonder if I could make one? naw......
thanks for sharing your reds. I do understand the time constraints for sure! hugs, Linda
Hi Carol,
Love Love Love your header! I think I remember that your daughter does your blog design..?? Wonderful!

What great finds this week! The slump is over!
Love your reds and especially the bunny. Sorry to hear about your mom. So many of us do care at some time for our moms. I hope all is well soon and you have the extra strenth for the extra effort.
Annette
Love your "reds," especially that cute hanky bunny! Hope your Mom is okay!!
Lovely plates they were meant for you. And i really like that little quilt could you not make cushions for the bench and only put them out when your home and sat outside that way the squirrels wouldn't get them simple idea i know ;-) dee x
The bunny hankie pin is a keeper! Yes, those plates were meant to be! I love that!
Hope all is well with your Mom.
Warmly,
deb
Carol, I just love your cutie header! I like the design on those plates, and the bunny is just so adorable!
Lovely reds this week! The plates are wonderful!
Everything is pretty...happy Rednesday.
All the reds are pretty, the cherry plates are so cute-I wouldn't pass them up either. Your ladybug quilt is adorable--love it.

Your ladybug quilt is fantastic. Ladybugs are a symbol of good luck in China and when we were getting ready to adopt our daughter from China, I collected every ladybug I could find. Happy Rednesday!
Gorgeous reds! I especially loved the hankie bunny. So cute! :) Re: the squirrels, you might try my senior mom's gardening trick with the birds - and put out some "faux" snakes. Maybe it will scare the squirrels off too. :)
And boy, you aren't kidding. Caring for our elderly parents does take time. Throw in babysitting grandchildren and even more of a time juggle. Presetting posts is definitely a big help! :)
Oh Carol! I just sold a whole set of those red cherry dishes at my local consignment store. They went fast. I took them down one Saturday, started to have second thoughts and went to go pick them back up and - whoosh - gone!
That ladybug quilt is sooooo cute. I know you would be sad if it was destroyed, but it would be so stinkin' cute as a seat cushion. Can you tie it down? Put little needles in it to discourage the squirrels? Well that might discourage people from sitting on it too.
The design on the plates is gorgeous & the bunny is so cute!
Happy Rednesday,
XOXO Lola:)
PS Love yr blog too!
My school made some totem poles, and asked the kids to donate chipped crockery. Red is obviously the best color.
Love the quilt - so perfect for the time of year.

Carol,
Keeping calm here and going thrifting as often as possible.
Got some cute things yesterday, really feel like I should go again today. Kind of like you and those cute cherry plates, I know there is stuff there that I should be bringing home.

I can't believe those plates were still there! If I'd been there, they certainly wouldn't have been!
Brenda
That ladybug quilt is precious! I've never seen a ladybug quilt--- it would make cute cushions but I'd probably leave it intact.
Thanks for visiting my book truck!
the vignette you made with the plates came out fantastic. I love that quilt..oh my goodness, it is so beautiful. That rabbit hankie is just so precious. I noticed the post yesterday and didn't have time to post,,so I'm back now,,lol
All your pics look like they should be in a magazine-you display so well!
Hi CAROL,
Is there a certain old Golden book you are looking for, "NO UPC"? The thrift store I go to always has lots of old children's books. I could keep a lookout for you.

That plates are so sweet! And that lady bug quilt! I love that! What a terrific find. The hanky bunny is so cute. You did good this week with your pretty reds!
That ladybug quilt is really cute! Maybe instead of cutting it up to make cushions, you could make cushions from a coordinating red and white fabric, and still have the quilt to use for cool nights on the swing.
Yes, I got lucky with Elizabeth's owl. So happy that I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
Everything is beautiful, especially the lady bug quilt..
There you go again, making my heart leap for joy. I've been taking a tour back on your blog and reading your post and loving every minute of it this morning. Nothing like a good dose or Carol and my coffee!
I'm happy April is here and March is gone. It was such a rain filled, wind filled, storm filled month...really awful weather wise. Made me want to move any place that was south of Seattle!
Bless your heart for caring for your mom. I'm wondering how that is going and it reminds me of my time of doing the same thing. It was hard both emotionally and physically. Oddly enough Carol, my mom passed on April 1st but many years ago. In some ways, it seems like just yesterday. Treasure the moments, as hard as it is at this time. I'll keep you both tucked in night time prayers.
Red is such a HAPPY color. I'm so glad those darling plates were still there a week later. A sign indeed. : )
As always Carol, you have fabulous Red finds !I love them all, especially the Hankie bunny !I will be praying for your Mom , mine just turned 81 last Thursday.
Blessings,
~Myrna
Thank you so much for leaving such a lovely comment on my blog, and for giving me the opportunity to discover your lovely world! Belinda x
